Do to two shoulder surgeries from almost killing myself falling from a grain bin I am starting over at 45lbs pull from 70lbs of pull, hoping to get to at least 48 by the start of the season. What Arrows and Broadheads would you shoot for that light of draw? I have been shooting Trocar's, should I stay with them? What Arrows, as I have to buy new. Any help would be great, thanks!

Regardless of the brand and spine of the arrow, look for a finished weight of about 400 grains with your broad head.

I would also change heads from the trocar. I would go with a pure cut on contact head, VPA, magus, steel Force....ect ect.

My son shoots 48 pounds of draw with a 27 inch draw length. We both use the same arrow. The Beman White Box ready to shoot arrows.

They are 340 spine, 29.5 inches long. Maybe slightly overspined for him right now but not enough to hurt anything, besides he will continue grow so the arrows will fit for some time.

They weigh 420 grains with a 100 grain point.

Last month when we were sighting in his new sight, he missed the target from 20 yards and poked the arrow through the 1/2 inch wood siding of the garage. They will have no problem passing through deer.

If you like to build your own arrows, the exact same configuration can be made with the Beman Bowhunter shafts. They are the same thing with a different label attached.

Tell your PT what your goal is as far a drawing your bow and what weight. I had my surgery on May 10th and was elk hunting at 65# on September 1st. I would agree with the COC broadhead advice. I switched to ViperTrick which is pretty close. Impressed with them so for on 2 WT bucks.
Good luck and do your PT!

Trial pretty much said exactly and recommended what I would have with the exception of look into Slick Trick true cut on contacts as well.

I would look into the Dirt Nap Gear D.R.T. broadheads! Amazing cut on contact broadhead.

Like the VPA 3 blade vented and the Slick Trick 4 blade Vipers. I don't think I could go wrong with either one. Thanks for the info. And I am almost dead set on the Full Metal Jackets for arrows., unless someone has a better 300 grain arrow in mind? Thanks for the help so far!

    MO,

There was a guy named Tfox that used to post here a lot and was just a bow junkie and was very knowledgeable. One of those guys that forgets more about bows than most of us know. Anyways, he strongly advocates for the Magnus stinger with bleeders for low poundage bows. His son started hunting not too long ago and his son had very good luck. The Magnus offers free replacement for life if you damage them. That is what I am having my GF shoot this year for bowhunting just because of Tfox.

Glad you didn't share your nipple picture of you in the sling.

All the charts I am seeing say I need 400 grain arrows for 45-50lb pull? Not 300......hmmmm?

I think your mistaking spine for weight when your looking at the charts.

    I use a computer program.

I tell you what... give me you bow make and model. Draw length, and the arrow length your comfortable with and I will give you a couple of builds that will work for you.

    Great Idea!

This kids bow is called a Bow-Tec Diamond? My arrows are 29 1/2" and will shoot at somewhere between 45-50lb. hope that helps. Draw length on the cam is set at 29.

The cam on the bow is set at 29 and my arrows are 29 1/2" that's all I can tell you. Hope that's enough.

    Some examples

Easton Axis .500 spine ( 8.1 GPI x29.5" = 240grains) HIT insert 16 grains, blazers and nock 25 grain, broadhead 100 grains.... total weight 381 grains

    OR

    Easton Axis .400 spine ( 9GPIx29.5 = 266) Brass hit 50 grain, blazers and nock 25 grains, broadhead 100 grain...total weight 440 grain

    OR
    Easton FMJ 6mm .470 spine (8.8 GPI x29.5 = 260) 15 grain insert, 25 grain blazer and nock, 100 grain head...total weight 400 grains....

These are just an example..I picked Easton because you mentioned FMJ. In any event no matter which brand you chose your looking at .500 spine arrow with standard inserts or a 400 spine arrow with brass inserts. Hope this helps.

My boy (12) shots Slick Tricks and G5 Montecs with Easton FMJ @ 40 lbs.. Cuts through them just like butter. He is getting pass throughs pending shot placement in on our huge Kansas corn fed deer!
