Well Im getting bored to death just sitting at home on Days off :( I cant kill another buck, Im not interested in another Doe, Turkey season is over (vermon<<buckeye :D) SO, what to do  Yote hunting, I know its a long shot but at least Ill be out there :)
I just got back from Gander Mt. I bought a Critter quiver decoy :D It looks like a sad little wabbit that got ran over by a Mack truck  It vibrates on a stake. I also picked up a Squeeling wabbit in distress call. Im going to wait till Gun season goes out before doing this so as not to disturb anyone still hunting on the lease. As for now Im still getting out there in some stands in hopes of lucking into one, in places that I have seen them, or killed them from in the past. Any tips to this rookie varmont hunter (No im not going to use a rifle :D) Its going to be Bow only!

I'll be after them soon myself. I've got at least a pair of VERY lucky yotes at my place, and a ton of foxes and bobcats at my place. Dan's got a bunch at his place too. I hunt them like you would hunt a turkey, but toss in the element of a deers nose. I'll be using a new Foxpro Spitfire to call them in and get away from the source of sound. I also won't be bowhunting them, while it's fun and "sport" for me, I'm more concerned with thinning the population and will be using the AR and/or my 870 super mag with #4 buckshot and an Indian Creek BDS. I really just want to "get it done", and I'll choose my shooting equipment accordingly. I used to call them quite a bit when I was younger, and I have taken quite a few successfully..........just know that they will most often come in downwind of your setup and set yourself up accordingly. I like to setup in a spot with myself 50-100 yards downwind of of the caller, and watch your crosswind spots to catch them starting to circle downwind. If you can imagine a turkey with a sense of smell, that's about how tough a yote is.

The new Spitfire is only $200, a fantastic value compared to the $400-$700 models of years past. Only difference is you can only put 24 sounds on each memory card, and it's not camo (easily fixed with some Krylon paint) which really isn't a big deal.

Only tip I have is use your mouth on your hand as a squeaker to stop them if you need to. Seems to work really well. Kinda like the baaaahhh we do on deer, LOL

Good luck Blood...I'd love to be in your shoes right now - with that buck down and out of tags :)

Crick, another option that would cost a lot less is building a "Varmint Al" electronic caller. I know you are handy enough, I'm sure you can pull it off. If you google "Varmint Al Caller", you will find enough info to figure this out. I bet you could build one of these for maybe $30 to $50, I had one I built a few years ago and it worked great. I have no idea where it is now......but it was REALLY cheap to build.

I can't wait to get out and chase yote's. Those buggers are getting thick around here and they have demolished the fox population and put a serious hurting on the rabbits.

After finding over 20 "remains" of whitetail during the shed season.

    Ya.. I'm in too.. BC.

I just started tonight.. didn't see any though. But I'm not about to sit around all winter. Those little buggers need thinning around here and I aim to take a few with me before I exit the woods and begin this years shed hunting.

I'll have to take a closer look at that decoy you got.

I'm thinking pretty hard about this too! One screwed up my hunt last time out. I shot at it twice but missed only giving it a hair cut. We saw 3 that day and my buddy went out yesterday rifle hunting and saw one, but never got a shot at him. I think they need thinning soon!

An idea for you too, buddy (you know I'm all about ideas for what you should do with your stuff! ;) :D )

Fur prices are at ROCK bottom this year... the ones I trap this year I'm gonna have tanned to lay all around the man cave downstairs for room decor...

Gettin' 'em with a bow would be a good enough trophy and accomplishment it might be worth saving and doing the same. :)

He Dink,,,Jerrod and I were talking that if we get snow like last year we need to make some Death Popsicles for them. That is where you take a piece of steel and sharpen both sides like a double edged knife then you dip in in blood then snow then blood then snow then let it freeze. Then you stick it in the ground and the yotes come along and start licking it like a popsicle and by the time they get to the blade their tongues are numb and they keep licking the blade, then you just follow the blood trail to the dead dog. Cruel I know but I hate yotes and we have way too many.
