Hope this doesn't break any forum rules but felt a need to share... Sometimes God has little messages or signs He sends your way to either keep you on your path or let you know when He is pleased or concerned about His children. My wife calls them "God Winks". I will be 60 in November. I used to hunt obsessively when I was much younger and continued until about 11 years ago when life's little problems conspired against me and I gave it up for a while. I was pretty good at it and missed it after a while so this year I decided to jump back in with less enthusiasm than before (yeah, right). Needless to say I am obsessed again! We usually attend Church on Sunday mornings but occasionally we will skip it if there is some "special" thing going on that, in my view, gets in the way of the message. Doesn't happen often but today is one of those days. When that happens I take out my Bible, close my eyes, say a short prayer, open the Bible and place my finger on the page. Then I open my eyes to see what message God has for me that day. My prayer today was about my recent hunting decision and whether it was truly His will for me or just me being headstrong. The answer was right there under my finger, just like it always is, PSALM 20 verses 4 and 5. "May He grant you according to your heart's desire, And fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your Salvation, And in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions." It's gonna be a GREAT hunting season!
Amazing post Thank You!!! I doubt you are breaking any rules. Any man that has spent countless hours in the woods all by himself with his thoughts, has to know that there is someone behind all of this.
Great Post! Our family has an Ancestor.com site and we share "God Winks" we receive. Everyone enjoys receiving, posting, and reading them.
I thought this old thread deserved a follow-up...if you read my original post I ended it with "It's gonna be a GREAT hunting season!" This was a statement of faith based on the message I posted in answer to my prayer. Well, the TN archery season opened Sept 28 and ran thru Nov 8...I only managed one deer with my bow but I was hunting on a new lease and was using bow season as a "scouting" opportunity. Saw lots of deer just didn't get lots of shots. Muzzleloader season ran from Nov 9 to Nov 22...four more deer down including a fairly nice 7 pointer. Can't say enough good stuff about the CVA Accura MR, 245 gr Powerbelt Aero and Blackhorn 209 powder! So that's five so far and the modern gun season just started Nov 23 and it runs thru Jan 5. Told you it would be a good season
