God Bless the 700,000 strong orange army this weekend. Only in Wisconsin will You see a guy with an assault rifle sporting a bayonet for that impending charge of the killer turdy point buck. This is from todays DNR faq question section. You can't make this sh%t up! Imagine leading this guy into the Nicolet Saturday@dark thirty after closing the bar down 2 hours prior. Headline "hunter bayonets his buddy" Pour me a Lienies and a shot of jagermiester, uffdah! I love the DNR answer. Kamikaze charges not legal! On second thought a Bayonet stabilizer might be cool.Hmmm "Question 4: I have both a SKS and a M44 military rifle I would like to use for deer hunting. Each of these rifles has a bayonet on it. Can the bayonet stay on the weapon for the rifle season? I do not intend to use it, but does it need to be removed while hunting? Answer: The department does not have any requirement that the bayonet be removed. Even though you acknowledge you won’t be using it to kill the deer, please note that a bayonet is not a legal means of harvesting a deer to one’s possession."
You cant make this **** up..... Our Orange Army started this past Saturday in NY. That is my cue get the hell out of the woods and move one state over for a few weeks.
Wow that is a big army. I think Illinois is in the 200,000 range. Our army is taking the field Friday & I look forward to joining them.
Fact, the 7 upper midwest state's licensed deer hunters would constitute the 4th largest army on the planet overnight. Take pause Zombies!
Count me as 1 but minus the bayonet and maybe the gun. I might bow hunt but it's always fun to shoot a gun once in a while.
Yep it's on here in illinois this weekend as well.. I can't decide of ill be partaking in the shotgun or not.?. I actually wish they would skip a year or two.
It's supposed to be windy as hell and not favorable temperatures this weekend. Maybe alot of them will stay indoors. Maybe I will stay indoors! But I dought it.
This year our DNR made is legal to hunt with any caliber weapon.... I am taking my kids out to blast at some deer with his 10/22 and a 30 round mag! His younger brother is taking his Red Rider BB gun.... Should be a good time!
Oh.... The red rider is a one pumper... I would at least want one that I could put a little more punch behind.haha. Have fun with the kids!!!!
Scary stuff when you know that you are hunting on your own and there is a group of 10+ guys doing a drive near you...
I had a group of 4 driving at me 10 years ago trespassing on my property, I emptied a magazine out of my 9 mm. It was surprising to see boys that big jump back over the fence so fast.
I too will be joining the orange army on saturday. Just not as exciting as it use to be, but bowhunting will do that to ya. I am fortunate enough to hunt my uncle's 680 acre farm in Buffalo Co. I just get in the stand early and wait for the neighbors to get happy feet. Good luck and have a safe hunt!
I wish our gun season started that late in Nov. Ours started on the 8th, just when the bucks are starting to open up a little they unleash the orange army.
I just started bow hunting, never really rifle hunted for deer. But in Missouri I get to use a bow for close to 3 months to hunt deer and turkey if I so choose. I can give 2 weeks up. I'm willing to bet that the blaze orange army has put more money into wild life conservation and promoting hunting to the youth that all bow hunters could hope to. That's not a knock against bow hunters, just an observation. Add in that there's plenty of dirt bags that carry a bow, that don't respect others and the ones that take shots they know they shouldn't , that don't burn a tag when they loose a deer. Might take a minute and climb down from your tree stand or the high horse. We're all hunters and we have just as many bad seeds.
