With my recent misfortune of having my truck window smashed out and a few pistols stolen, I've been looking at what to get in replacement. For the truck it will be a cheap $100 revolver.

I'm thinking of getting a Glock 20 in 10mm to replace the .45 though. It seems more and more folks up in Alaska have switched to carrying these as back up for bears when bowhunting and I have to admit the thought of having a gun handy is intriguing to me.

Anyone have/shot one? Lets hear the good/bad about these. No need for the ugly, I'm already well aware glocks are ugly as sin haha

Go to Youtube. You will find a few good reviews and some not so good. I looked into them myself before I bought my M&P Shield for carry. youtube was my best source for info. Good luck, and sorry to hear about your truck!

I'm a huge fan of Glock. The 20SF would be a fantastic gun to get into. The (S)lim (F)rame will feel very similar to the size of the G21 .45. The fullsize 10 handles the potency just fine, the compact G29 will be somewhat more jumpy but entirely manageable. Load that with a high quality 200grn solid and you've got a solid bear load.

As far as potential grizz protection the 10mm is the ONLY pistol round I would even consider.

My grandfather has the 20...I have the 30 SF....I don't notice as much of a difference in the SF versus the full frame as I thought I would....the SF is NOT smaller in width just so you know...its only different in the back of the grip and ever so slightly at that....glock is a great reliable simple easy to use gun...they shoot great feel great and you won't regret buying one...just be careful as the gun has no manual safety when a round is in the chamber

the glock 32 is a mid size and it come in .357 sig whch is a 40 cal necked down to 357. Its a very hot round and packs 1 hell of a punch. For bear protection you don't want a slow big round, you need a mid size fast round.

The .357 SIG does not support a heavy enough bullet for bear. The 10mm can still push a 180grn as fast as a .357 will push a 125grn while still maintaining a much better wound channel and penetration.

Yeah I'm sure it's a great round, but it certainly wouldn't hold a candle to a 10mm in stopping a grizzly.

I should just get a 44 mag but the Glock will be lighter, holds more rounds, and I would actually use it more I feel like.
