I have an appointment tomorrow at 10:30....she said I will leave with lenses that same day ...testers, whatever that means ..
I used to wear round wire-rimmed glasses and when playing pool or shooting, I would be looking over the lens. Would have to scrunch up my noes to get the lense in the right place. I since switched to a more square/rectangular style, and no longer have any trouble.
Testers probably means that it is just your first pair that they try and have you fitted for. Just to see how you do with them. There are different types so they just try the ones they think will work best for you. They don't order a whole bunch of contacts until they make sure the have ones that work for you.
I had the same problem when I used to shoot pool, I tried contacts and could. It stand them. Now I get glasses that are more rectangle and sit higher up on the bridge of my nose. The lady that fitted me for my last pair thought I was a little odd when I walked out side and got my bow out of my car and drew it back to make sure everything lined up right.
Yes, I wear glasses all the time so I also am practicing with them. Several years ago I wore contacts and really preferred that but after a while I didn't make it back in to the eye doctor and ran out of them. This past spring when I had my eyes checked I opted to get the contact exam and contacts. However with being borderline needing bi-focals I just haven't been able to adjust to them again. Sucks because I sure hate having lenses fog up on those cold frosty mornings!!
Testers are the "trial" pair that you wear for one week to make sure they fit your eyes correctly. You go back for a follow up a week later. They normally recommend you wear them for 3-4 hours a day for the first few days. I use glasses and contacts. It doesn't affect me at all. Good luck!!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Yes...I only have long distance issues so I use them for driving, TV, shooting birds, guns ... shooting at a target with a bow...never...except on the two deer I missed high
So I did the contact thing at the optometrist yesterday....shot my bow yesterday and I cannot believe the clear sight picture I get now! Wearing them this morning
Yeah Tony, I have to wear glasses for distance and I can't wear contacts because of a stigmatism. I've got regular and sunglasses that are wider that I use for hunting so I can see out of the lenses and yes it does suck that they fog up in real humid or cold weather. It works though. Hang in there.
Hated glasses with a passion, got them in 4th grade, contacts in 6th. Finally got LASIK in 2004 (Junior in college) best investment ever IMO, I still have 20/15. **I was BLIND**
Yeah, you definitely should have shot more in the manner you would hunt but hindsight is 20/20. Glad to hear your working it through and better luck to you on future hunts. No glasses here, least not yet...
I used contacts for 20 yrs couldnt wear them anymore they just started bothering me as I got older, No probs changing over to glasses..
I know I am behind the power curve on this one so I do apologize for posting late. Shooting with glasses stinks for me. I need them for close up but do okay at a distance. I have been thinking about your miss and am really sorry about that. I was heartbroken for you after all your time afield. One question I have is do you think you may have been trying to follow your arrow with your eyes as you released? Many people have formed that habit or do it on a big buck especially. It can result in very erratic shots. I have posted a couple times that I never see my arrow until after around 30 yards. Not saying you did but am just asking. The best way to release IMO is to continue aiming after the shot until you hear impact. This keeps things aligned and usually produces better results for me. Just asking and sharing from my own personal experiences.
I have been wearing glasses for distance for the last 12 years, I also cant wear contacts due to a stig. I found I had to develope a new anchor point. With the glasses I had to turn my face a bit more straight onto the target so I wouldnt be looking between the lenses ( where the glasses go over the bridge of the nose). Watching the arrow thru your site houseing till it impacts the target is good advice.
I have glasses and contacts. When I shoot with glasses, I am fine until I back up to 20 yards. At that point everything is blurry.
