Tonight was the first night I had a chance to get out of the house and do some glassing in the fields. I eased up to the bottom of a field that is planted with soybeans and clover and sat down with the bino's and spotting scope. What a night! I am fairly certain that two bucks that were in the field will end up being in the 150's and another in the 120-130. In fact, the smallest of these three bucks walked within 30 yards of me and stared me down for a while. But man, one of those big buck in particular has my blood pumping already. He's wide, in fact, really wide. My guess is somewhere in the neighborhood of 24". He's shaping up to be a clean ten. Just a gorgeous animal! I'd love to get closer to him to snap some pics, but I'm hesitant to do anything stupid. I might try a trail cam on the entrance trail he used tonight to see if I can get a few pics of him. There were also several other smaller bucks in another field that will need another year, but are showing promise. All in all, I saw around 30 deer tonight and 8 were bucks. Needless to say, I'm stoked for season to get here!
That certainly sounds promising. I've yet to get out and do some glassing. Thinking about purchasing some stronger binos solely for this purpose.
I was out to dinner with family, on the way back we saw over 40. No big bucks but lots of numbers... is fall in the air or what? Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL
I haven't seen any bucks yet but I have seen lots of does. Don't matter to me if there's bone on the head or not I don't eat the rack lol
I slipped up to the fields this afternoon and hung a camera on the trail he came out of last night. Hopefully, I can get a couple mug shots of him in the next month. But man, it was HOT outside yesterday!
