Some stand sites on our land......what yall guys thank bout the placement? And what wind directions should I hunt what stands in? All the wooded area are grown over cut down. Never re-seeded and cut bout 5 years or so ago Any thoughts? ill give ya a little run down of what we have named the stands and what ive observed in the years (when I say spotlight I mean just shining looking for deer location...legal in my county. I do not mean shootin them at night...I don't believe in that ridiculous crap) 1. My climber. It is mainly one that would be used with a rifle...its cheating really and I plan to only use it on does in early rifle season. When it was freshly cut...it was a snipers post. Still has good shooting range. 2. Just a 10' ladder painted camo and roughed in along the edge of the path at a heavy deer crossing. Facing NW cornering the path 3. We call this one ol faithful. Its a ladder stand. It drops from bout halfway the field (from left to right) down to the woodline making it impossible to spotlight from the path. I killed my first 3 deer in this stand. They all came out straight across the field and walked around the woodline and right up under me. I killed them with a 12 ga at no more than 5 yards from the base of the stand. That was when I was 11....im 29 now. 4. We call this the preachers stand...it also dips down low to the right and caint be spotlighted on the edge due to the drop to the woodline. Its facing E towards the woodline 5. This is the sexy stand (named after my friend we nick named big sexy) it is on the powerline. It sees right much deer activity...it is a ladder stand on a light pole facing SE down the power line. I have seen many deer here and killed deer here. 6. Daddys stand. Its a ladder stand roughed in just outside of bedding area. Its a last ditch rut go to. its facing S into the cutdown 7. The buddy stand. It was put here as a result of some fine scouting. This part of the drag line has tall standing pines on both sides and I found good rub lines and scrapes. first time sitting it (3 yrs ago) had an impressive 5 pt come out...let him go and he is a shooter 8 today. Its facing N and its on the S side of the drag line path 8. This is one I put up this year...its a 10' ladder painted and roughed in as a result of some trail cam pictures I have of 2 VERY NICE bucks that crossed the drag line from N to S. I saw these bucks on the hoof one afternoon when I was on my way to put the camera up...I have all ideas they were on their way to the new ground field (secluded field just SE) being it is a soybean field this year. This makes me not want to go to the buddy stand because I hate to prance across their travel route. im set up bout 15 - 20 yrds off of their trail. Its on the S side of the drag line facing sorta NW towards the bucks crossing 9. New ground field. Its a ladder stand. I have sat in this field with a rifle and watched 20+ does at one time...hinesight 20/20...I shoulda shot as many as I could....cause our county has a terrible buck to doe ratio. this field can produce deer bout any time of day. Its facing E across the field 10. A old tripod...caint really see much around it. hasn't been used in years. Its facing S 11. The oak stand. Its a ladder stand that is against a lone oak tree. Not much cover and you stick out like a sore thumb but the tree is very wide and hides your siloute. Its facing W and there are trails EVERYWHERE around it....it is in amongst bedding area also
I like all your stands! If you need a new guy to fill one of them!!!!!!! Best of luck out of all of them!
Sounds good except, you're way to far for me to come see them first hand and give you a real good opinion.............
