I may regret posting this but I told one of my customers I would help him out. Last week he came into my shop with a amazing whitetail that he had found on public land. He is looking to give it to the rightful owner of this once in a lifetime buck. He was hunting his private ground and when he was done he went to a public piece that adjoins his land for some scouting. To his amazement he found a giant of a deer. What we are looking for is some info on whom and when this deer might of been shot. We have approximate date of harvest due to decay and coyotes eating it. Also he has the arrow and broad head that it was shot with. The deer was shot on public ground in northwestern ill. We are looking for what public ground, arrow, broadhead, Picture if any, and date of shot. If anyone has any info or know of anyone in that area that might have wounded a deer please pm me. We would like to give this buck to the person that deserves it.

That is awfully stand up of you.......but I'd imagine there are a lot of people in northwestern illinois that lose big whitetails every year. Maybe a county or town would help people narrow it down a bit more without giving up too much info?

Hey Tim - did he try asking around in the parking areas of the public ground, or maybe talking with the park ranger/DNR to see if they know anything?

Not yet Justin, there was no one around. He was going to call the local Dnr officer last week. I get in contact with him and post more info. The county was Jo daviess county. I am not one to ask a lot of question due to not wanting to be the nosie archery shop owner. I am just a middle guy that knows a lot of people and want to help someone out. If someone has info I will have this individual contact him. Good luck to everyone, this should be a great weekend! Happy Halloween!

I live about 45min from Dubuque on the Iowa side. It's a shame the original hunter couldn't find the buck. I'll ask around. It's a small world you know. Good Luck.

Curious to where the deer was shot. Does the hunter deserve it just because he got an arrow in it?

This will be a small miracle if the person who shot the deer connects with you. I hope it turns out to be a young first year hunter or something like that.

Lucky you have at least an arrow and broadhead to confirm it otherwise how would you confirm who shot it ?? Thats cool your being a true sportsman most hunters would tag it themselves probably. To me if you didn't kill the buck why would you want to and how could you mount someone else's buck as well.
