So I pulled the card from my camera which I had out for a good month... Out during the entire rut. I placed the camera in a new spot on the edge of a known bedding area that is close to food sources (corn harvested mid October). I had the camera out all summer and got pictures of roughly 8 different good sized deer (8+ points) with one 4.5-5.5 yr old 160" deer. Over the last month I got 144 pictures... I don't put out attractants or food to get them - they just pass by naturally. Not a single decent buck - the biggest one being a 1.5yr old 6pt. There are scrapes/rubs all around this bedding area so I'm not sure what to think. If anyone hunt Minnesota you would know when the orange army comes out it is absolute chaos... But I'm sure not every one of the bucks was killed - more than likely just bunkered down. But I had it out during the entire rut, which worries me. Another thing that concerns me.. The property to the south of us is a pheasant farm. They regularly have 10+ guys driving the property for pheasants. It concerns me that more deer were not driven on to our property. I'm probably just over thinking all of it but wanted to see what you guys think. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Where in Minnesota are you at? I am in Austin, and hunt not too far from the Iowa border. I have only gotten one buck picture furring daylight hours all fall.
I'm in central Minnesota - About 20 miles east of St. Cloud. We can take 5 deer so there isn't a shortage of deer... They have just disappeared. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm thinking it might be because of a lack of food... All AG fields were harvested mid October. Still kind of concerning that not a single decent buck showed up during the entire rut.. We have a healthy heard of does and everything. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
