So I most recently purchased a bow it is a 1994 Martin Maverick Pro 3-D an it looks an feels like a good hunting bow. Someone kept it in good shape it has lots of detail for that old of a bow an is in excellent condition. It will be my backup this year next to my PSE Stinger xs 2015. I thought it was a cool retro bow so I snagged it an im pretty confident it will get the job done. My Question is this. Who still hunts with older rigs an would u consider this a go to tool for hunting or is it more of a Collectors Piece. I really dont know a whole lot about Martin an there history but this bow doesn't look like ur average they put some work into it. Its well put together. Here's a look at it.
My first bow was an 04' PSE Deer Hunter. I still have it ready to go as a back up. It is not as old as your however it design is similar with the longer Axle to Axle and more vertical limbs.
Thanks I thought so too its a lil spongy on the draw but but it's helping me get in shape for the season im gonna shoot my pse come august I will be shooting this all summer ibo is 300 fps thats gud for that late of a model pictures dont do it any justice this bow is well taken care of
My Grandfather-In-Law shot an old compound like that ever since I have been around. You could hear that thing through the woods when he shot - but he refused to get anything new because it was the best bow he has had. Last year he had to go to a crossbow due to age and his shoulder and he hates it. Says nothing can compare to the older compounds. I think you'll enjoy it - love the etched wood!
Well I went back out to the Ridge today an put a mineral block down and some apple corn there's definitely sign of deer in the woods. So hopefully I will start getting some good daytime pics. I finally took some pictures of how the place looks right now. The biggest decision I think im gonna have to make is if im gonna take a doe for the freezer first or a buck if there is a decent buck cruising the area. There's plenty of time to atleast get some photos an see whats going on. Like I explained before I've spotted some rubs an some tracks so there bound to be there. Its only a matter of time an Oct 1st cant come any sooner. Here are a few pics from the Ridge.
Yep it still shoots very well also not sure if its a 80# or 70# but it shoots hard back wall is kinda spungy but what older bow isnt its a 1994 model an that wood looks even better in person its definitely some kind of back up.
