At first I wasn't going to post up because the story isn't that entertaining, but here goes. My goal for our PA opener was to shoot a doe. The past couple seasons have been a little difficult so I was hoping to kick this one off right. I went to one of my best producing doe spots. An unassuming patch of woods surrounded on all sides by fields, with a couple tree lines connecting it to larger patches of woods. Shortly into the morning, I heard a snap & behind me was a small doe. I stood & readied hoping to see her momma. Eventually the big doe walked straight in to the base of my tree. I was looking thru the slats to watch her. She was nervous & on edge, sniffing around. She calmed & moved to the other side of my tree. I quickly spun around, drew, aimed and let the arrow fly a few steps before she made it into the brush. She was at a slow walk & only 10 yds away. I REALLY wish this next part was on video. The arrow hit a rock after passing thru the deer and sparks flew up from behind the deer like fireworks. It was crazy. She made it around 50 yds before piling up from a heart shot. Here's the head after its impact with the rock It toasted my arrow too, the insert is all cockeyed & the shaft has a tiny split.
Now you see, you lied. That was an entertaining story. Again, like in simultaneous texts, congrats on a PA doe!
