How do you guys do your scouting to see what deer are in your area during the summer? I mean before all the crops are planted and deer change their patterns? I have been reading alot about mineral sights but i just wanna see if certain areas are worth putting time in.

I use salt licks such as trophy rock and bio rock to do some inventory on my deer. I just put out a 50 lb mineral trace block from tractor supply to see how that goes. They have been useful for me.

I use mineral powder and salt/mineral blocks. The powder I use is Deer Cane Black Magic. For the blocks I get them in an agriculture section at a dept store. The blocks you can get around 6 dollars for 50 pounds. I stay away from trophy rock or anything similar simply because of price. It all attracts deer and other critters. :tu:

I used mineral blocks on the past. As they are now illegal for me, and there are no farm fields anywhere close, all I can do is create small plots in natural clearings and set cameras on known travel funnels.
