So this is my first official post. Been searching around here for awhile now. A little back ground- i shot bows competitively for about 8 years when i was younger and went hunting some. I always seemed to gravitate more to boom sticks than bows. However i am wanting to get back into it and have a lot of questions for everyone and anyone who would like to answer. My big thing right now is the question of getting a new bow or not. My current setup is a Martin Pro Series 3. 65-70lb pull. I know the draw length is too short right now so i will have to take that to the shop and see what can be done. If it can be let out some more i wouldnt mind sticking with it for this season and getting somthing better next year. However if it cant be let out more then there is no question ill have to get another bow. So now begs the most annoying question ever. What bow should i get? I know this is real personal preference and i should shoot every bow i can get my hands on to see what works but im looking for some guidance. What would be the best bow out there sub 500 that isnt going to look like a dinky kids toy in my hands. Lol. I want somthing thats going to be able to hold up for a year or more until i can trade up again. I really like the thinner profile of a lot of the solo cams out there. Looking for good ergonomics, pretty modular so it can be set up for me, and will bring everything i need to the table for a good hunting bow. Any help or leads would be great and pictures and links are a real plus.

Welcome back. Your best bet is to get out and handle some bows in your price range. It's just like the old ford/chevy arguement. I like PSE's while my wife likes hoyt. It's all in what works the best for you.

First off welcome. Second I would most likely say stick with your current bow if you can let some out on the draw. See if you really want to get back into it after a year. So many good bows on the market today. Do you have an archery shop nearby that stocks bows like Mathews hoyt and bowtech. If possible when you take yours in try to get some range time with some of their setups and see what you think.

The only local shopper have here carries Mathews, bear, and the occasional Hoyt/ bowtech. I've got to shoot a couple different brands like bowtech and pse. Really liked the bowtech. It felt smoother than the pse to me. Can't remember the pse model but the bowtech was the swat model.
