I've missed my supercrew cab since I traded it in on an STX F150 back in 2007. I traded because my quad wouldn't fit in the short box on the supercrew. Anyway, I'll be getting another truck really soon, as in the few days. I've never driven anything but Ford trucks. As far as Ford goes I'm looking at something along the lines of an XLT F150, super crew cab, 6 1/2 foot bed, 4 x 4 with a V-8 (no Eco-Boost for me). Some bells and whistles but not too many. Not to offend anyone that has a Tundra, but I just won't drive a Toyota. I am totally unfamiliar with Dodge or Chevy. Do any of you have any input on the ups and downs of Dodge and Chevy trucks? Do they have any features that make you prefer them? I'm genuinely curious
Do you know how many years all the manufacturers have been saying that they were coming out with Half-ton diesels? For at least 10 years now. Its never going to happen. There wouldn't be enough difference between the half-tons and the 3/4 or one tons. Now, I drive a 2000 F-150 regular cab long bed. After having the long bed, Ill never go to anything shorter, its to useful. I do need a longer cab though. 4 years ago when I bought the regular cab, I was in the mind frame that I didn't want a wife or kids or anything, well that has since changed so I am in the market for a truck also. I'm looking at the Cummins diesels though, I want a manual transmission and 4 wheel drive. And thats the only reason I was looking at Dodge. Chevy and Ford stopped offering manual transmissions, which I think is BS.
RAM has really picked up their game over the past two years with their trucks. They are still behind Chevy and Ford though. Really like the styling of the 2014 Chevy's. The Ford's are the most dependable though. Our farmer has had a Silverado since '02 and has put $500 into it. Can't beat that. It really comes down to what you want. You have had Ford's before so you know how they perform. But if you were willing to try a Chevy I bet you wouldn't regret it.
Its absolutely happening v6 ecodiesel from dodge 2014 in the 1500...theres no question and a ton of press that this is in the line up Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Just an FYI the Ram Diesel 1500 is real and should hit dealer lots in a month. Now whether or not someone wants to take a chance on an Italian design 6 cylinder diesel in its first year of production is another matter. It is intriguing due to the 30MPG highway and 25 city ratings they have been getting with EPA testing. 2014 Ram 1500 EcoDiesel gets 9,200-pound tow rating - Autoblog As for the op, I think at this point you cant go wrong. i have a 2010 lariat 4x4 Ford supercrew. It's been great and does everything I ask of it. Its tough enough for hunting and working, yet the interior is a nice as some luxury cars I have owned. However, the one thing is that this current desing is from 2009. The all new F150 is coming next fall, so it's presently the oldest of the full size desings. The new Chevy/GMC is obviously brand new and looks like they made some nice improvements. The Dodge is about a year old and will have the class leading ecodiesel in one month. The Tundra which you don't like is also somewhat redesignded with the new 2014 models. I think the only truck with 6.5' bed and 4 full doors is the Ford. Honetly at this point I don't think you can go wrong. I prefer the Ford interiors over the cheap looking offerings from GM, but again that is personal preference. I also like the fact that 4x4 Fords and Rams have much higher stock ride heights then the GM trucks.
I have a Dodge Ram and although many have had nothing but issues with them I agree they have picked up their game sinificantly too. I do a lot of my own maintenance and repairs on my truck and had some ups and downs but I love it. I think part of the problem was that I was not the original owner and I don't think they did much maintenance. With that being said, I think I might try a Ford whenever this truck kicks the bucket, hopefully not for many years.
I have an '05 F150 supercrew. My needs have changed and I will go back to the extended cab w/ 6 1/2 foot bed. 5 1/2 is too short and I don't haul kids or people around anymore.
Never mind guys. I've been working on this deal for a while. I was even pre-approved for $48,000 at 1.9 % Navy Federal Credit Union and I was supposed to pick the check up today. Well, I talked myself out of it. I called and cancelled the pre-approved loan. I guess common sense prevailed. After all, I have a truck that's paid off, still looks good and it manages to do the job I need it to do. It doesn't even have 50,000 miles yet. Our car is paid off too. I suppose I just decided that it was something I wanted, not something I needed, and I can get along just fine without it. I am a bit bummed out though.
