Maybe baseball can now begin a new fight to implement a salary cap. Will this change the game as we know it? Who knows? I'm not claiming to be an expert on the subject but wasn't GS always the biggest opponent to a real salary cap?

I hate the Yankees but I am not about to piss on the guys grave. RIP George.

I'd be really interested to see what direction the yankees organization takes now. GS obviously did all the right things to bring it to what it is today. I was watching ESPN yesterday and they mentioned that his strategy was simple. Pay the guys more than what they were worth and then expect them to play at that level. Brilliant.

I don't care much for how the Yankees go about their business but It was sad seeing this happen. The boss definitely had a different way about him but from what some of his players said he also had as soft side to him. RIP George.

Look at what the man did for the Yanks and baseball in general. Sure a lot of people thought he was ruining the game by buying Championships, but heck, how many times did we see that strategy fail? I don't see much changing and I don't believe we will see a salary cap in baseball. I'm an opponent of it myself.
