It is getting close to the time of year where I fill all my cameras with fresh AA batteries as I put them out for the season. I have been using Rayovacs and have had good luck with them at a resonable cost. I am considering using some generic batteries this year. Anyone tried or use them? Worth the savings or just a PITA? Generics never seem to last long for me in the past when running C and D cell cameras. The Rayovacs now say that they last as long as Duracell's so I am banking on them this year. Menards had some great rebates on them, even though I still haven't gotten mine back yet LOL!
I have been using the Rayovacs from Menards since they had the rebates, and I hardly ever have to change batteries. I wouldn't be afraid to use the generics in my Coverts though, I have heard of a lot of people getting the cheapest they can find and still having good results. Tacklebox uses some sort of cheap batteries in his cams, and I haven't heard him complain.
The only thing that has me concerned about generics is build quality. I've had a camera ruined from a battery that leaked acid out. It destroyed all the contacts around the battery. Basically that camera's worthless now. Worst part was, it wasn't even a generic. It was a Duracell.
I mainly use rayovacs, I do have a set of dollar store batteries in a mp6 black that's been in at least since last summer.
I use Costco batteries with no complaints. They last darn near forever in a Covert and about 3 weeks in my Stealthcam... but no battery lasts more than 3 weeks in the stealthcam.
I've been hammering Menard's on their 48 pack Rayovac 7 bucks after rebate I think it is deal. The best part is they do the rebate thing about every 2 months and you can use the rebate on more Rayovac batteries the next time the deal comes up.
Ok. Maybe I will give them a try on a camera down closer to my house where I can check it more often. As far as the cameras up on our land I think I will stick with the Rayovacs. Thanks for the input guys.
Since I change batteries in 4 cameras only once a year, I don't worry about deals or price. I prefer the duracell copper top. Has been a top performer in my cams.
