Hi All, I'm MarkV from sunny Brisbane, Australia and I must say this site is pretty awesome. I thought I'd sign up to a US bowhunting site so I could experience 2 deer seasons and you guys always have the latest gear before us (Australia is like the USA's little brother and we get the hand me down gear). Our deer season runs pretty much all year round with all the rutting happening between late March through to late May (depending on the weather and the deer you chase). I started bowhunting 5 years ago and haven't looked back, I love getting out into the Australian bush chasing pigs, goats, foxes and deer. I must say most of my hunts would be termed as an "armed bush walk" but nothing beats getting away from it all. I look forward to sharing some stories with you all and reading yours. Can't wait for the next season of Bowhunt or Die to start. Happy hunting! Cheers MarkV
Welcome! How is the deer hunting out there in Australia? What kinda setup do you use over on that side of the world?
Thanks Dean and Fitz. The deer hunting here is pretty good, we have a range of deer spread out across the country. We have Sambar, Reds, Chital (Axis), Fallow (which I chase after), Rusa and Hog deer. We don't use tree stands much over here as most of our hunting is spot and stalk which makes it pretty tough. Sambar deer love really thick bush so you see a lot of deer butts. I just finished building a hang on tree stand and used it for the first time a couple of weeks ago, I didn't have much luck but I reckon I'll keep giving it a try. Hopefully I'll be able to give you guys some up close and personal video footage when I get back out. My wife is 36 weeks pregnant so I reckon it will be a couple of months before that happens but I'll definitely post it for you all when I do. Set up wise: Bow: Bear Motive 6 @ 70# Sight and Rest: Trophy Ridge React Sight and a TR Revolution Rest Arrow: Powerflight 340 with 2" Blazers Broadheads: 125gn Outback Shikaris (2 blade fixed). I'm going to Outback Supremes as they are tough as nails. I also love chasing hogs and goats, nothing better than shanking a big pig.... until he turns in your direction and comes at you flat out :D
Welcome to the site! I think there are quite a few people here who will love hearing your stories and seeing pictures.
