Hello everyone, my name is Russ Mason with GC Sports. I would like to use this forum section, with much appreciation to Bowhunting.com, to ask for your feedback. We, at GC Sports, are very close to launching a revolutionary new Archery Target System, GameChanger and we would like to hear your opinions.

GameChanger is a completely new concept in archery targets currently for field point use only. While using both old and new techniques, the GameChanger system utilizes a specialized layered foam compression system and frame for extremely longer life and flexibility while combining the first ever rolled series of "High Definition" graphics of wild game animals from around the globe.
Each GameChanger roll has 6 large, high resolution, images of the most commonly sought after wild game animals on a continent. Choose from North America, Africa, Europe, etc., as well as other specific rolls like all Whitetails, all Non-typical, all Predators, even all Turkey with plans for many more to follow! To round out the experience for the whole family, we have created a roll of very fun and challenging games, all the while the users accuracy and technique only get better and sharper. We are also looking into the possibility of uploading images provided by you for a completely custom target images of animals from your farm or ranch.

Each target size is a massive 32" x 48". The animals selected for each roll were carefully chosen for realism in their natural habitat, ethical shot placement positioning, and maturity. There is a small information panel located on each game animal target listing the common name, Latin name or genus, habitat map, and scale-to-shooting distance scenario for as much added realism as possible. For instance, the Mule Deer target on the "North American Game Roll" is printed at approximately 50%, so therefore shooting this target at 20 yards, is equivalent to shooting its full size copy at 40 yards. We have superimposed a set of vitals for each animal to assist in forming a mental picture for the hunter in a real life situation. In keeping with the idea of the "Aim Small, Miss Small" technique, we have also printed a small, high visibility, focus dot and positioned it right over a section of the heart there the lungs flank. This enables the shooter to quickly, almost instinctively, line up a perfect shot and release for a more ethical arrow placement.

But what makes GameChanger so revolutionary is that each target of wild game can be changed in a few seconds....hence the name GameChanger!

Using a clever way of indexing images across the face of the target system, GameChanger can visually immerse a Bowhunters into a hunt of a massive 6 by 6 bull elk one minute and the next feel your heart racing because an elusive Pronghorn Antelope has stepped to within 30 yards of you.

The best thing about the new GameChanger Target System is that no longer does target shooting and practice have to be boring. The vivid realism of standing as full draw aiming at a North American Black Bear really is much different than shooting at dots and x'es

It's true that the GameChanger Archery Target System can never be the substitute for that actual hunt of a lifetime....but we think we're the next best thing!

We just received provisional patent status, so i am open to any questions or comments you may have.

The price point structure we have in place puts the whole system in your hands for roughly $875.00, shipping included. We know its not cheap, but for the size, the flexibility, and the.... awesomeness its certainly worth the investment.

Here are a couple of photos to to review. Please offer any comments you may have.

Thank you very much for participating and be sure to visit GCArchery.com on April 16th. when we plan to go live.

    Russ

I really like it! My only concern, not trying to be a cheap ba$tard, is the $875 price tag. Might be hard to push to your average consumer into something like this. Seems more applicable to a club.

Without giving away the whole operation, any way you can delve into where the cost is coming from( Short of saving time)? What is the material of the "roller"?

    Thank for your input Backcountry

The components include a compression frame for the layered foam sheets which are all custom shaped to enable the system to work smoothly. Lots of machining involved there. The foam itself, to withstand the speed and impact and still retain its function over time, isn't cheap at all. All hardware is stainless. Roll materials and high resolution graphics to withstand the elements come at a cost and then there's an added, estimated, cost for shipping of nearly $170.00 to the cost. The whole system weighs in at 105 lbs.

Please keep your comments coming, I appreciate them a lot.

    Very nice, very cool concept.

    Some questions:

Since everyone, or just one person, is always shooting for the same spot in the picture, the killzone, what is the life expectancy (shot count) of one target (not the whole roll)?

What is the life expectancy (shot count) of the whole roll?
(I do understand that one person's shot count is not necessarily another person's but I guess I am looking for an "average")

What type of material is the target (picture) made of? (paper, mylar, ripstop, etc.)

I assume an initial roll comes with the $875 but how much are replacement rolls and how much is replacement foam layers?

Bruce.....thanks for your comments, they are great ones.
Each individual target vital area can be shot on average between 500 and 750 times in a concentrated area.
Multiply that by 6 and you have a ton of life in each roll....and that doesn't count the errant shots, the times you might want to target other areas of the target other than the vitals.
The cost of each replacement roll is $165.00 which comes to $27.50 for each 32"x48" target.
I hope these photos help. The saucer sized area was shot 500 times. The red heart isn't as red as it once was, but nothing that a red sharpie marker wouldn't solve.

    Sounds and looks real good.

Another question: Does the primary target area of the different animals on the roll move to a different spot on the foam so as not to put all the kill shots in the same place for every animal and abusing the foam in one spot.

    Foam replacment cost?

Bruce....yes, we move the vital target area around and center of a 20" area so as to spread the wear rate over a broad area. Also we try to keep the impact area at least 6" from the top and bottom. All the foam layers in that non-impact area can be swapped out and or flipped around for increased life.
The cost of a replacement kit has not been established but I expect it to be in the $50.00 range which will replace approximately 1/2 of the original target.
