I have a black cherry that is pushing 5 ft tall. Has about 6 green tomatoes so far. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've been eating some banana peppers out of my garden and made a salad last night with home grown lettuce and peppers.
My garden I have broccoli, 4 different peppers, okra, cucumbers, eggplant, roma tomatoe, san marzano tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, green onions, bunch onions, sunflowers and various herbs And my Dad's garden
We've been eating the lettuce for over a month now. A few of the tomatoes have just started blooming so I should have a first yield of cherry and big toms starting soon. Watermelon and snap peas are just starting to take off. Garlic is growing like crazy. Onions and carrots are going a little slow so far, I don't think I turned the soil as good in this spot. Although looking healthy, I am a little disappointed in my peppers right now, they really seemed to have slowed down. When I first transplanted them from inside they took off but they've recently slowed down. But this always happens, I know they are healthy and they look good, I always think they won't do well and then all of the sudden they take off and start growing peppers. Nice looking setup Hooker!
Time to update this thread! . Veggie garden....already harvesting zucchini.... tomatoes growing good, peppers on every plant... cantaloupes on the vine....as well as cucumbers... Rhubarb, gourds, and spinach doing well... Here you can see grapes in the back and elderberrys in front... Blackberries Blueberries
Those are looking good. Mines doing alright so far. Can't say horribly impressive, but should turn out plenty for us for the season. Probably eaten enough salads with radishes and onions already to have paid off all the seed. Some peppers, cucumbers, herbs, and a few other plants aren't putting me too confident. Potatoes, tomatoes, corn, pumpkins, squash, and some others should be a pretty decent year. I think things are a little behind this year but not critical. Decent amount of blossoms on some. Forgot to take pics of my raspberry garden but that actually is going great, and with transplanting and setting up more rows in a few years when it's all filled in should be a solid producer. Definitely learned a lot of changes I'll be doing for next year. Found an old book of my grandpas that's got some good ideas. I didn't really plan for most efficient layout this year, just wanted basics out there. Next year switching from rows to beds and interplanting. More ideas on ground prep that I know I need to work on. Lots of perennials I want to get established. Within a few seasons should have things pretty set to cover the family and decent extra. Decided to snap a few pictures this morning. We have quite a few banana peppers, cucumbers and zucchini are doing well. Had a bumper crop of strawberries, tomatoes are good, and only two of my four blueberries produced this year. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4.
I wish I could grow things like some of you! My uncle owns a garden shop. He usually throws his plants away at the end of the season. So when I stopped there I got about 10 tomato plants, four pepper plants, and about two dozen strawberry plants. (Free of course!). I will be putting in my garden this weekend. The tomatoes and peppers are in a flower bed. My strawberries will hopefully be nice and delicious next year!
That's almost too little, Dan! I think maybe a few more rows - deer like pumpkins! (Do you sell them like a pumpkin patch?)
I'm having a heck of a time with the gardening out here. I have to water all the time and the soil formed a cement-like crust which killed all my cute seedlings. They just couldn't break through. Same for about 3/4 of my beans. What did sprout, were dug up and/or mauled by my puppy and chickens. So, I've reseeded some. Fairly short growing season, so I may not end up with much. ...and I'm going to set up some drip line for irrigation.
Look at all these zucchini I got out of 8 plants ....and there are little ones following and tons of them...the miracle of chicken crap :D
That's a nice pile. I'm thinking we should have them here pretty soon too. Lots of small ones started and lots of blossoms too. Think I have 4 or 5 plants so won't be as many as you. Looking forward to some on the grill each day. Hoping next year to fertilize with some crap too from a buddy's farm. No animals here yet. Maybe in a few years when everything else is set Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
