I finshed book one and last night I finished season one last night. All I can say is I am hooked and Dothraki are my people
Good. Someone else on this forum that I can talk about it with. I've read all 5 books. They are all fantastic. Book 3 is simply, amazing.
I have read them all also, been a fan for years before the TV show...with that said the first three in the series were as good as you could find. The last two...not so much. Seems to be taking a Robert Jordon approach and not tying up the loose ends with a couple of character threads not going anywhere. All that aside I still like em better then 90 of the others of similar genre. I haven't watched any of the TV shows yet, most likely I will watch em on DVD or Netflix all at once...good to see others on here with similar good taste in entertainment.
When I started Thrones only book one and two were out, had to wait on three...so yes its been awhile. I started to really like fantasy after I read Tolkien the 7th grade....I can remember reading it in class, I couldn't put it down...I know it was 7th grade because while I was reading it Sister Mary Ellen walked up to me while had my head buried in it...took it out of my hand and walked over to the class room door and then tossed it down the hall way.......
I'm halfway through Book 4 right now, and I can say I agree. Book 3 was ridiculous. There were a few of those moments similar to what happened to Ned in S1 where you just go "Did that really happen??"
I red 4 or 5 of the Wheel of Time series before I just gave up. I saw no end in sight and the storylines just seemed to draw on and on and on. I'm also on the 3rd book of The Dark Tower series by Stephen King and so far it's been really good. Going to finish GOT first before I get back on those.
Germ.....the Dothraki princess has a stunning scene in one of the HBO episodes. Ummmmm, it was really great. I watched every episode a few months ago. Sneak semi preview
I'm hooked. I haven't read the books but the series is awesome. I was urged to give it a look, and ended up watching the entire first season straight thru. You guys all better stay away from my Dothraki Queen.
The series is great and I've just started the books which I'm excited about reading after all the great reviews here. There are quite a few good HBO series but GoT is probably my favorite right now. Any Boardwalk Empire fans?
Zomg song of ice and fire fans!!! I love that series. Ive read it like 7 times! Haven't watched the full hbo series yet but I'm digging it so far. Can't wait for the next book. Anyone care to speculate as to jon snows lineage? All your base are belong to us...
We've got a Stage 4 nerd alert here. $20 says 9.5 out of 10 people on this Forum have no idea what you're talking about.
ah one of the great unknowns we are promised at some point will be revealed..... The obvious choices are Ashara Dayne when Stark was at harrenhall. But I don't buy it...to simplistic for Martin and does nit feed into other threads...Wylla the wet nurse that cared for Jon before he was brought to Winterfell....again I don't see how that comes back and makes an impact on the story a later time. Its obvious that Martin has a Plans for Jon if nothing else to tie up the loose end from the Starks seeming demise....so what left? I think a long shot...hear me out. Snow is a Targaryen. We know Eddard Stark wasn't a lier, a fool yes but a lier no...he told Catelyn that Jon was "of his blood" ....so how a Targaryen ? Of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.... Read this http://www.angelfire.com/ma4/mlarchives/faq/jon.html
It is widely considered fact among fans that Jon is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna. And that Rhaegar and Lyanna loved each other. There is just too much there for it not to be true.
I agree, an if your Edward the last place you would want the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna to be was around Robert who showed up at Winterfell...hence Snow being sent to the wall. Wasn't Rhaegar brother on the wall also the time? Old and blind?
