I haven't enjoyed a series this much in awhile. I've enjoyed it so much, that I started reading the books recently, which are even more superb. For those that are not familiar, it has been described as Lord of the Rings, but for adults. Which I don't really get, because it is not as much fantasy as LotR. There are references to dragons and "the Others", but they are not a predominant role in the story. The story is more about politics, violence, sex, corruption, backstabbing, and fictional family histories set in a fictional medieval world. The series should be watched for it's production alone. Hopefully it does not go the way of "Rome", which became too expensive to continue past season 2.

Is anybody else watching this? Do you people even have cable/satellite?

Has anybody else read the books? So far, the series has surprisingly followed the books very well.

4 books as of right now, but the author just finished book 5, which should come out some time this summer. He has said that the series will be 6 books though.

YOU PEOPLE? What do you mean "YOU PEOPLE"? J/K. I watch it and have to admit that if it wasn't for some serious nudity and sex in the first couple of episodes I probably would've quit watching. It is a pretty good show that the wife and I watch on a weekly basis along with Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara. Both great shows also.

I've heard great things about it, but cancelled my HBO a few months back as I got sick of watching The Breakup and Confesions of a Shopaholic every other day.

Being the closet sci-fi-fantasy nerd that I am I fully intend on reading the books. However, I must finish The Dark Tower first and I'm only 1/2 way into the 2nd book. It's gonna be awhile and hopefully by then the series is on Netflix. :tu:

I'll have to set my DVR and check it out.

Hook, do you watch any other shows on HBO? I like Boardwalk Empire, True Blood, Eastbound & Down, Curb Your Enthusiam, and Bored to Death.

I dig it. I didn't even know it was a book series. Last Sunday's episode was pretty damn good. I will check into the books for sure.

Love Game of Thrones, as well as the line up above. HBO comes out with some great stuff. Cant wait until True Blood starts up again.

Oh yes, love all of the above, although I have yet to see Bored to Death. Has it started?

You might be kinda lost if you just jump in on the current episode. Might want to try and see if you can watch all the episodes in order.

I did a quick search and can't come up with a Season 3 premier date but I did see they are showing a couple re-runs on June 4th. I think it was the very first two episodes. I need to DVR them. Missed the first season.

NOPE.... I can't stand to watch something that takes weeks to develope and reach a conclusion..... and then you find the conclusion is just a way point and you have more weeks of dark film, fat dirty old men eating with their hands. Nope, won't entertain watching it.

I watched the 2nd episode.. and man, I just couldn't get into it. It was really slow for me & my wife thought the same. Maybe it was because I missed the 1st one or the 2nd episode was just building for rest. I do have the rest of the episodes recorded though and plan on watching another.

I have been watching "Camelot" though.. which is another medieval type series with a basic storyline everybody knows. I think it's an excellent show.

Man, if you think GoT is slow, I don't know what to tell you. I thought the first couple of episode were almost too quick, especially the first episode. They were covering so many characters and material, it was somewhat hard to keep up with, but now it's hitting it's stride after they got all the character building out of the way.

I tried to like Camelot. I did. But I just hate the kid that plays Arthur. I hate his face. I could not get past that.

Ever since "Fast forward" was canceled without coming to a conclusion, I can't seem to get into any show with storylines that progress from week to week.

Well the good thing about this series, is if you get really invested 3 seasons in, and they cancel, you could always read the books.

Unlike that really crappy show "Fast Forward".

To each their own, I personally think shows about imaginary dragons and medieval fantasies are for shut-ins and 40 year old virgins but I'm not here to judge.

You'll have to forgive Hook. When he eats too much pate and washes it down with 60 year old Macallan, he can turn into a real baculum.
