Has anyone used G5 100gr Fixed Broad heads? I used the Rage machincal 2 blade last year. Hit a 6pt granted a little higher than I wanted but arrow only went less than 1/2 way in. shooting Mathews DXT 70lb 27' Draw. Wondering if G5 would have past thru? P.S. I recovered buck approx 700yrds away

I've used rage and G5 striker, in the right setup the rage is devastating, But the G5 Striker will get you a pass through everytime on a good hit. They are scary sharp too.

I am a former Rage user, but I have been using G5 Strikers and Montecs the last few years with no complaints.

Haven't arrowed a deer with one yet but have sent 1 or 2 through plywood while broadhead tuning. Only damage i have managed to do to one was after it imbedded itself in the ground after passing through the plywood and hit a rock. It only took a small chunk out of one of the blades though

I have some montecs that I've never hunted with. I can't get them sharp enough for my liking.

I use the G5 Striker and have always had a pass thru except once when it hit the center of the leg bone on the opposite side. If i were to ever switch it would be to a Slick Trick, but im happy with G5 still.

Last season, I filmed my friend Opie shot 2 deer from the same stand a couple minutes apart. The first one was with the rage and the deer fell over and died within 30 yards of our tree. The second deer was shot with a Montec. It ran about 75 yards.

Shot placement was almost identical. I'm thinking the second deer ran further because it was already on alert when when shot. It was walking towards the first deer.

    Otherwise. Both worked just fine.

Don't have any success or failure Rage stories. Instead I just wanted to add that I switched to NAP HellRazors this past year because my neighbor two house away and I could hear our Montecs in flight from our own homes. After I told him one weekend while he was shooting, he told me the same thing about mine. For 20-30 yard shots this did not bother me, but I was planning an Elk hunt and would be preparing for an up to 50 yard shot. He bought a pack of the NAP heads and asked me to listen from the back of my house. The only noise I heard was from the arrow piercing into his target. Anyways, they were also quiet on my set-up. I never had a single problem in the woods with the Montecs before this, but I did switch to the NAP heads overall.

I got a pack of G5's and a pack of Rage 3 blade to try this year so I will be able to tell you at the end of this coming hunting season.

The honest answer is that it really doesn't matter. A good shot is a good shot no matter what broadhead is used and a bad shot is a bad shot no matter what broadhead is used.

I shoot both the Rage 2 blade (with sucess) and G5 Montec CS (with sucess). Like the rage on longer shots, like the Montec when up close and personal. Both do great if placed where you want them. All about shot placement.

In 2008 I shoot a 275# dressed Wisconsin black bear at 18 yards, that only made it 21 yards after the shoot with a 2 blade RAGE. Three deer since then and no problem on recovery. Nothing kills like a good shoot and a RAGE.

I have shot both and would take the G5 over Rage anyday!! Ive seen and heard plenty of stories about Rage failing to operate like it should. If you want to shoot a mechanical try NAP Spitfires!!!!

Neither! GrimReapers Baby! Actually, they're the only mechanicals I've used, switched from muzzy's after 5 years.
