Anyone had any experience with these? I do understand it is not legal in some states to carry field points in your quiver during season. I believe the 7/8 "cutting surface makes them legal. How do they fly? What type of game have you taken with these? Would you let one fly at a coon, yote or turkey? I would rather not shoot at squirrels (yum, squirrel soup), rabbits, ect... with expensive BDs. I see they also claim they don't bury themselves into the ground like field points and BDs do. Any truth to that? Thanks for your feedback in advance! Heck
I don't have personal experience with those exact heads, but my brother uses them and is very pleased with them. He has taken squirrels, rabbits, and groundhogs with them. I have a similar head (I forget which one) and it is also said that it won't bury. It works just like it says. I have yet to lose an arrow (knock on wood)
I use them all the time around the yard. They do break but you have to try hard. I have only shot chipmonks and red squirrels with them. They will rip a squirrel in half. They don't bury in the grass. The shoot good. You can sharpen them with a round file. I know of one guy that swears they are the best turkey head. I will let you know at the end of April. I have 4 other "Judo" type heads and the G5 SGH is by far the best I have used. I think it is Easton that has a new on I may try. But if it ain't broke....
Turkey head u say huh? That's an interesting thought. I would think a head shot would be quite fatal and a body shot would do no damage. Hm. That's an interesting thought. It never even crossed my mind
I ran across some other post on various forums that said the same thing about being a great turkey point. I guess I won't know until I try it myself. Either the turkey will run off and laugh at me ot fall over dead. lol
If you are ever around Manhattan and up for some turkey hunting, shoot me a text. We will try those suckers out :D
Ive used them on grouse, porcupine, and rabbits. Ive never had them break, they do go through more than you'd think. The porcupine was shot at twenty yards, found the arrow laying maybe 30 yards past impact. I could see them being a great turkey head for both head and body shots.
I use them for grouse and red squirrels. I've broken two of them, but our ground is all rocks. Good head IMO.
Thanks all for the feedback! Exactly what I was looking for. I will take a stab at the turks with them this spring. I'm also going to let one go at a yote. My money says the yote doesn't get very far. I will be sure to provide those results when I have them!
