I'm looking at purchasing one. I really like fixed sights just because I feel like it is more convenient and I'm not really interested in a one pin sight. That's why I kinda like this G5. It has 3 fixed pins and one floating pin. Has anyone tried it? Is it durable, cheaply made? Did you even like it? Thanks for the reviews. I also started a forum about bow hunting as a subculture in Bowhunting Talk. I'd appreciate it if you left your opinion
I have it on my bow. It's a good site, nice and light and built out of durable materials. I have 3 fixed pins set at 20, 30, 40 and the floating pins have marks for every 5 yards past that out to 65. The only issue or complaint that I would have is there's a rubber piece on the underside of the sight. I'm assuming it's there for some type of vibration dampening or something. Mine came unglued and came off. It does not negatively impact my shooting in any way.
I was looking at getting that sight for my bow, but heard some reviews questioning it's durability. I ended up going with a BLack Gold Ascent, 3 pin with the 4" dove tail. Man I love that sight! Similar concept, but you get a lot more movement in the float since the whole head moves. My bottom pin goes from 40-80 yards easy. And that's at a blazing 242fps
Had the G5 XR on my Helim when I got the bow, ditched it for a Trophy Ridge React and much happier now! Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk 2
I've had that sight on my bow going on 4 years now and still love it. Had to replace the rheostat light when the cap broke off but they sent me a new one as soon as I asked about it's replacement, no charge. It's been a great sight and have had no problems other than that. Love the moveable 4th pin and have it out to 80 yards so far and with room to go further, just haven't tried it yet. The only thing I wish they had was a smaller pin diameter like .010, the .019 are real nice and bright but with my older eyes now I'd like as small as I can get. But I won't be replacing it any time soon as I still love it.
The rubber piece is an arrow bumper, in case you hit the sight loading an arrow. It's actually a good idea, unless it falls off of course. I have 2 g5 sights, and they work fine for me
got this sight at the begining of the year and love it, no complaints one bit with it, very durable I think
I checked it out at the local shop today. I was impressed with the floating 4th pin. I thought the knob would be cheap and poorly constructed but I was really impressed. The only thing I wish it had is the pins that get smaller. Other than that I thought it was a pretty nice sight but I'm still not sure what I'm going to do.
Which size pins did the one you were looking at have? .029 or .019? I have the .019 and they seem pretty small to me compared to what I was shooting before.
I have the .019" and wish they made them smaller too. About the only time I wish they were smaller is when it's bright and sunny out and they seem to be very bright. But then again my eyes aren't what they used to be and I get a little bit of halo effect anyways now.
i got one and its awsome, i used it on my elk hunting trip, when i rode the horse sometimes it turned the adjustable knob but thats not the sights fault. it tough. would rate it 8out of ten forsure, it seems good for both deer and out west
