I definitly love my Prime to death, i will shoot it for anything, i took it hunting a few times at the end of this season and will hopefully be shooting Vegas and 3D shoots this summer with it. The accuracy of these bows is mind boggling, it seriously is the most accurate bow ive ever put an arrow through, hands down. Some people say that these are loud bows, in my opinion it is just a unique sound. Every brand of bow usually has its own noise, Primes just sound different that most people who see them for the first time percieve as loud. Standing a couple feet away from someone shooting a Prime after shooting my own for a while changes that, it really is a very stealthy bow. Their advertised speed is right on, my bow performs amazing. At 31" draw, 65lbs and a Maxima hunter arrow my Centroid is shooting 297fps. Thats on par with most "speed bows" out there and my Prime is so much smoother to draw and more forgiving to shoot. I think Prime deserves to be shot by more people before a decision on a bow is made, because they are an extremely high quality bow. With some more advertising i have no doubt that Prime will be up there as a top line that Everyone will consider, not just a certain few who are curious about them. They are great bows, excellent finish and quality, and i will be shooting mine for a long long time.
I'm glad to see they are starting to get a following. I've never been the type of person to buy what everyone else is buying. I like unique, different and innovative. That is what drew me to the Prime.
Last years noise issue with the Centroid turned me off big time and I passed on a really good deal and bought something else. It seems they listened and fixed that issue...two big things stop me from buying a Prime right now. First the dealers around me either don't carry them, if they do they never stock any...hence the fact I been wanting to shoot the Defy for the two months and still haven't touched one. The second thing is draw length specific cams turn me off big time. I can change out any cams on any bow in no time flat but when you go to sell a bow used the fact that you can't readily change the draw length with a cheap easy mod change...big PIA to the avg guy. Also cams are running quite a bit more money then a set of mods...for joe bowhunter this isn't the most desirable thing. I will also look and see this weekend how much adjustment I can get out of an impact draw length wise... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
IMO i would shoot the bow i want and not worry about resale so much. If you like the bow, it will probably be a while before you sell it, so either way getting mods or cams might not be the easiest. Plus thats the buyers responsibilty to either buy a bow that fits them or to accept the fact that cams will be needed on a bow that doesnt. From my experience, if you liked the Centroid you will Love the Defy. The draw is silky smooth and it has the same great rollover and solid back wall. No creep, great valley, its lighter and its really quiet. The rubber grip is a little on the big side but without the grip on it has a great thin comfortable feel. Highly recommend getting your hands on one in the future if you have the chance to, i think you will like it if you are a fan of the Centroid
im looking at a 40 min drive to sugar creek, or an hour and a half to coshocton...which is where our cabin and hunting property is, so next time i am down there, i am going to shoot one!
This was my first ever scored Vegas round shooting my Centroid. Using a normal hunting set up and Maxima Hunters, shot a 299 with 23 X's... Like i said the accuracy of this bow blows me away every time i release an arrow Did this... With this...
I own a centroid. I have shot every major bow manufacturers flagship so far this year except Hoyt. Honestly I don't even care to shoot any of the Hoyt's. I will though just to say I gave them the chance. The Impact is hands down the absolute best bow I have ever shot. It is deader in the hand than a carbon bow. It is silent. It has absolutely zero vibration and i am not one single bit lying on thy one. No buzz, no shock or anything at all. Doesn't kick, fall forward kick sideways or anything unusual. The draw is the smoothest of all the bows this year. The Defy has two differences. The string angle is not as comfortable. It is steeper but, not that bad. Feels about like a 33" ATA BOW. The second is a slight vibration. Less than 95% of the other bows I have shot but, it's there. Put a stab on it and it will disappear. If you are thinking about buying one, I'd go with the Impact. There is no other bow out there like it.
stick, i owned both the vector 32, and the element rkt this year, and i can tell you that the vector has less hand vibe than the carbon...and i honestly like the shot of the vector better, i do like the carbons, but i dont see how people say there is less vibe than any alum bow...i think they have a "hollow'' buzz, if you will to them, and the vector has none...so as far as the carbon bows being more dead in the hand, i call bs. i owned both 2012s, same specs, same ata...and the vector is nicer to shoot for me, and it is actually not as stiff on the draw cycle, and they have the same exact cam....? maybe the aluminum bow flexes more on the draw, i dont know, but my vector is easier to draw. i still have my vector, and i sold my carbon....just saying... i cannot wait to shoot the new prime bows, they were nice last year....and if they are quiet now...i will probably own one for sure.
Every bow feels a bit different to everyone! I shoot a Vector 35 as well as the Prime and i do still enjoy shooting the Vector. Mine shoots real nice for me! I think you will definitly enjoy the Defy. I have yet to shoot an Impact but the Defy is definitely a nice shooter. Significantly toned noise too compared to last years IMO although i have no issues with the sound of my Centroid
I owned a 2012 Element RKT. I didn't think it had as much vibe to it as the Vector. To each their own. I traded my CERKT in on my Centroid. Why? You can quiet a bow but, you can't do squat about how well it draws and feels at full draw. I honestly don't have an issue with the noise either. The deer I stuck this year didn't know any difference. If you like the Defy, you will love the Impact.
I have to help you out on this one Nick. I can't look at it any longer. Prime is G5 Outdoors Pro Shop Bow line. It is owned by G5. Prime is not its own independent company. Quest is G5 Outdoors box store brand badge. You can find them in any store that sales Quest. You will not find and I hope they never do seek out a Prime in a box store. Sorry man, I just couldn't pass over that first post of yours and keep letting it go.
For someone who's not bashing mathews you sure used a lot of words and provided zero reasons. You say, they make good but not great bows, then turn around and say they're sub par bows. You say they have the best customer service in the industry and I do not doubt that this is true. Yet the only reason you state is, "in your opinion nothing more can be done with solo cam tech". Really? Sounds like you're just being a hater . You could say the same about hoyt, cam and half has been around for how long? Dual cam bows have been around even longer, does that make them subpar? Buy what you want, like what you want, but to bash mathews "just because" seems a little silly. Do you have any actual reasons to call mathews sub par? I don't like split limb bows, does that make PSE subpar? I mean after all, split limb tech has come about as far as we can take it, right? It must therefore be inferior.
How did i know a Mathews guy was gonna take offense to this... Give me a break... Well you sir are now a hater of PSE and Hoyt because you said things about them in your post i didnt like. Lets get back to talking about Prime bows and leave the mathews for the other 50 threads.
My bad, i am aware that G5 owns Prime as sort of a "mother company". My error above was saying they produce their own bows. They are the Prime devision of G5 but are technically still made in the same factory. Thank you for clearing that up
I'm not offended at all, I'm just curious if he has any actual reasons for calling mathews sub par. I simply applied his logic to those other companies in an attempt to illustrate how flimsy the argument he's making is.
i have had issues with my mathews bows, all four of them...so i dont think they are the best out there anymore...and as much good as i said about them, how the heck can you say i bashed them!?!?! really, butthurt? i think so. anyways, i have had my share of problems with mine. i have my opinions and reasons, and why would they start making dual cam bows if the solocam was not pretty much done, and with the other cam systems on the market, they are improving and advancing them....why would he go to a different cam system? hmm, anyways, i dont want to argue about my post...and archery in general is almost at a plateau with the materials and technology we have available...then comes prime...with their dual track cam system and 7000 series aluminum risers!!! DANG i wish i had a dealer within an hour of me! i will be shooting one next time i go to the cabin, and i will more than likely own one. nick, you planning on shooting/buying a 2013 prime? i want to shoot the defy and impact...really have no want to shoot the one.
Ohiobowhunter, I sure do love the 2013's, however i am extremely happy with my Centroid, just got it around Christmas. Also, the 2013 bows max at a 30" draw, so unfortunately i wouldnt be able to shoot one anyways being a 31" draw. I am able to shoot a 29" Defy on occasion and it really impresses me every time even being 2" too short. Draw cycle is excellent and it will balance very nicely with a stabilizer. I would love to shoot an Impact, but haven't been able to. I would love to hear how it shoots if you are able to put some arrows through them!
