Which G5 head? Here is a very ROUGH overview from my experiences.

Montec: Good head, easy angles for resharpening, cut on contact, solid.

Montec CS: Basically same as above, much much easier to resharpen, however.

Striker: Very sharp, replaceable blades, cut on contact, Weak ferrules. Have had several break about halfway up the ferrule.

T3: Don't like expandables, would shoot this or Bloodrunner if I had too though.

Thanks, I was just trying to find the best fixed blade broadhead. I need excellent penatration. I'm color blind. I need pass through's, so that it leaves blood spraying out both sides. I've been bow hunting for 40 years, and I would do anything if I could pick up a blood trail. I also help a guide operation in western ky(23 years). Nothing more frustration to shot a deer, and have trouble trailing. Personally, I won't take any questionable shots.:nana::nana:

Of all the heads I've ever pulled out of the package montecs were by far the dullest.

I would take serious look into the hellrazors by NAP. They are nearly identical to the montecs but much much sharper.

Plus you can get a four pack of them for cheaper then a three pack of montecs

Was in the bow shop yesterday talking to the local pro about broadheads. He shoots Rage, but said if he shot a fixed blade - Montecs were the only way to go!

I was practicing with Montecs for a Hog hunt in oklahome a few years ago. 2 of the heads cracked and broke after being **** into high density foam. The problem with them is that they are not actually a piece of machined metal. They are pressure molded, thus the sharpening issue. If I was going to shoot a fixed blade it would be a Slick Trick Magnum. But I am a die hard Rage guy now!

I love the Montecs. Never had any issues with them and they are very easy to sharpen when needed. Massive blood trails and great penetration. I shoot them on ACC's and see very little difference from broadhead flight up to about 60 yards.

Check out the NAP Hellrazors, if you aren't completely sold on the Montecs. I just switched from a Montec and out of the box I noticed 2 things 1) the Hellrazors is noticeably larger and 2) it is sharper.

Montecs are loud when they fly! Tested them against slick tricks and crimson talons. The montecs sounded like a paper bag was stuck to it. I'd worry about a deer ducking it sooner than the others...
