Great thread! I've got hundreds of photos as a kid but non I can post on the internet. Bout once a year I go through em all. Sure have a lifetime of fine memories.
1967 my father killed his biggest buck to date, 5pt, southern NJ. Us kids came along, he stopped hunting with his buddy's and started taking my brother and me. Only buck he ever had mounted, I still have, and remember posing with it. He was so proud. This past season a big 5pt showed up, its 20 yrs since he lost his battle with cancer, I had the 5pt show up Dec. 24th. got off a bad quartering too shot, gave him 2 hrs, said a prayer, found a little blood, tracked on my hands and knees for 1 1/2 hours only finding small drops in the dark. He only made it about 65yds, but it was a tough track in the dark. Not my biggest but one I really will remember for the rest of my life. January 7th was my birthday and the day he passed 20 yrs ago, miss him ,never realized all the things he gave up to spend time with us, he was a cop in a small town, worked 2 jobs so we could do things. This buck brought back a lot of memories, great thread ...
Take a pic of those old photos with your phone. Post em on here. I'd like to see some. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
I had killed a few deer before this one, but this was the first pic I had taken and the first one of only a couple I took while hunting with my father. It was 1991 I think? I didn’t get to spend a ton of time hunting with anyone when I was young, I learned most of what I did by reading everything I could get ahold of and by doing everything wrong and learning from it. My Dad did some hunting when he was younger but not much after I was born so I’m not sure where I got obsessed with it. This specific day though we went hunting together, it was the second day of the season and I had barely slept the night before. We were sitting on the ground together in the morning, and when the buck came in I rested our new rifle across his knee and let the deer have it at about 120 yards. It’s crazy to think how long it’s been but I still remember that morning like it was yesterday!
Few more memories from the past... First big buck. Had a 21 inch spread. Field dressed at 237 lbs. There is a special pride you take in your spouse and children hunting with you, and being successful! Wife's first buck. Daughters first buck.
Here's a couple of mine. The first one was in the 90's. The thing I remember was it was the first buck I ever shot with an expandable head. I believe it was a 125 grain spitfire. The next couple of pics were in 2007............14pts and field dressed 275! Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
About 10 yrs ago I had a goal of killing 5 deer in a season with my bow. This was number 5 in late December. That old $150 Reflex bow really killed deer. It was a big upgrade to my Whitetail Hunter II! hahaha.
I believe the Reflex line was a Chuck Adams series. I remember the caribou model was a sweet shooter. Course it was about 48 inches a to a Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
I've piled up some big nannies over the years. It's fun to see the various stages of gear, camo and fatness through the years. First deer I ever killed with a bow. Badass trophy photo! lol I think this was 14-15 years ago. My only opening day deer. Campbell Outdoor Challenge circa 2007 I think Same year. Killed this big old girl from the ground during late December. 2008 early season. I just got back from my honeymoon in Cabo. Lay off the cupcakes, brah. Campbell Outdoor Challenge circa 2008 if memory serves. Rocking the NAP Shockblocker and cat whiskers.
Old pics from mid to late 80`s and early 90`s!! The pic with the 2 deer, I only harvested the doe. My buddy got his first buck day too!! Wow time flies
