This was a picture taken at the funeral of one of the Navy SEALs recently killed in action in Afghanistan. His friends drove his dog, Hawkeye, from Iowa, and the dog laid next to his coffin the whole time.
Man, that is gripping. That picture should all make us pause to appreciate the sacrifices that the members of our armed forces are enduring each day overseas.
tough one. every day we gotta take a sec and say thx to those men and women past, present and future........
We have a fort here in town and beings I work at a gun store I see a lot of vets. I try to shake their hands and tell them thanks when I get the chance. A lot of people take for granted the sacrifices they make for us.
Salute to all service people....past, present and future. Thank you for my freedoms that I am blessed with because of your sacrifices.
I have seen another picture of the same thing but from behind the dog facing the side of the casket! This really hits home due to my little brother over there right now. I support our troops and I am a member of the Patriot Guard in honor of my little brother. If you dont know what the Patriot Guard is look them up on the internet. If you own a bike I am sure you would love to join up with us! Here is a recent picture of my little bro standing with his crazy buddy under him! My heart goes out to the familys of lost heros and for the ones that have members over seas!
I appreciate everything the patriot guard does man. When my buddy was killed in Afghanistan in 09 there was a huge column of them leading the funeral procession back home. It's not easy coming home after it all but seeing that there are some people out there that take time for us means a lot to me. That dog knew he lost his best friend and it's a wake up call to any one who thinks military life isn't anything but easy.
I can not explain to anyone that has not gone through it of saying bye to a loved one knowing the risk! It was hard and my brother said "I am not saying bye I will see you when I get back!" Tough things man!
