I completely agree. That is why this is such a great opportunity IF we do not stop at poking fun at them but also show support for real conservation and wildlife. That is why on Monday I am keeping the picture and hashtag but switching the photo editing to support RMEF. I think it would be an incredible social media showing of support if all hunters followed suit changing the support and awareness to RMEF or other conservation groups.
I'm just thankful for all the animals that are no longer living life their entire life inside a warehouse because I finally man-up'd and started hunting. Everything in my freezers now lived life the way God intended. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You are not dealing with people like us. You are not poking at people that use rational thought. You are dealing with people that give the same attributes of a child to a rat or dog. You are dealing with sick minded people. I'm certainly not kowtowing to anyone. But, I'm not going to expose myself to what could amount to extreme retribution. Not when you know they are crazy and anything you say or do will NEVER change their way of thinking. You may as well knock your head against a brick wall. We stand together, certainly we do. But, pushing buttons is just asking for the wrong attention. Just my 2 cents. There are plenty of people that wish they would never have woken a sleeping dog.
Ehh....i'm with fletch on this one. I can see the funny side of it and the humor in it. But it's honestly coming across pretty antagonistic and immature. Not the type a message we should be really putting out there about ourselves. Yes it sucks. I get the fun and humor in it, but again like always we have to be the bigger people. The high road sucks sometimes. Well, a lot of the time. But, in this instance, I think its the better route.
Can you please back up your "not Kowtowing to PETA" and wear that shirt on the next BHOD episode? Lol!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I jumped in on the fun, but my Facebook is relatively private, I probably wont keep it for long (though certainly not from fear of any PETA retribution). fletch has a strong point though when he talks about people of a different midset, just look at some of the death threats famous "trophy hunters" get like Cam Hanes, its sick
We need to distribute these and sell them like the girls scouts sell cookies Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Justin I will volunteer free labor to sell these at a stand at my local Walmart along side the girl scouts. I can't stand the agenda they push on us law abiding hunters Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The PETA people are a lot like my ex wife... very ignorant and irrational. Seriously though, you can't get through to people who truly think their way is the only way... As my mother always reminds me... you can't fix stupid. The PETA people are very similar to our far left democrats and media who feel everyone should get a trophy and that their way is the only way.
I'm not understanding why hunters want to purposely provoke a group that isn't attacking them. They aren't ever going to think the same way that we do, but there is no reason to purposely mock a campaign that isn't attacking us. It makes us look like a bunch of jackasses....and for what reason? Yes I know they have attacked hunters in the past and will do so again in the future, but I just don't see what there is to gain from engaging with them over something that doesn't pertain to us. Personally, I wish both sides would just leave each other alone.
"Shoot selfies not animals" isn't a direct shot at hunters? What I am missing hear? Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
https://www.peta.org/blog/hunters-attempts-troll-peta-backfire-big-time/ Way to represent guys.....thanks
You seriously think Peta is going to put an article with accurate information on their website? There is not a single outside source, other than Peta itself, that has reported any of those claims as true. I wouldn't believe Peta if they said the sky is blue. Their entire organization is built on misrepresenting the facts. PETA should really stand for People With Euthanized Thinking Ability. I have no doubt 250,000 people used the filter...but did they say how many were hunters trolling them and how many were actual Peta supporters...of course not, the number wouldn't be nearly as favorable then. FAKE NEWS
your right it is fake news...but people are reading it. Just like the media outlets who report fake news, people read/watch it, and believe it's true. it's not the Anti hunters we need to worry about, it's the NON-hunters that could be persuaded by this. and the mass projection of bloody animals on social media. this article (first posted by wl704)nails it, http://www.outdoorlife.com/heres-what-you-need-to-know-about-peta-facebook-photo-frame#page-6
As boonerville already pointed out, this is propaganda in it's purest form. Peta's FB page has over 5 million likes. Who truly believes they picked up 2.5 million new likes in a couple days because 250,000 people used their photo frame? Surely nobody with a fully functioning brain. And do we honestly believe there's people out there in America who were previously unaware of PETA or what they stand for, and through being friends with someone on FB who is a hunter, have woken up to their message and sympathize with it? Come on now. While I agree that needlessly posting images of bloody animals or dead animals stacked up on each other isn't a good representation of hunting, the vast majority of images that have been posted are tasteful harvest photos. The hunting community as a whole has done quite a bit to advance the message of how tasteful images are good for the public perception of hunting. If we continue to support that message and get it out to some of the people posting images simply for "shock and awe" purposes then we're doing our part. Now let's keep in mind in many of these images are being posted by people who have already posted them at some point in time, and have been for years. My FB feed is pretty much littered with hunting imagery and videos most of the year - as I'm sure most hunter's FB feeds are. The OL article wants to act like all of a sudden FB was just flooded one day with pictures of dead animals where there were none before, which is pretty far from the truth. People posting these images are hunters - ones that are proud of what they do and not afraid to show it or speak about it publicly. We all need to stop acting like what we're doing is somehow wrong or not socially acceptable. THAT is what PETA wants and how they ultimately win this war. Drive people to be afraid to stand up and support their beliefs because we risk facing intolerance or some sort of social justice warrior blow back. We keep trying to bend and mold this idea of hunting to make it more palatable for the non-hunting public - don't show bloody animals, don't use the word "kill", talk more about the organic meat you're feeding your family, etc. To me it seems as though we're diluting ourselves and our message by coming up with what we believe are socially acceptable ways to present the simple fact that we enjoy hunting, killing and eating wild animals. If we simply stand here and allow PETA to advance their agenda with zero response from our community, how does that help preserve hunting? No, adding a filter to our FB profile image isn't the perfect solution, but it's one that has unified hunters and shown PETA that their agenda won't be met without resistance. So let them post their propaganda and put on their smiling face, we'll continue to take our shots when and where we can.
