What kind of fuel mileage is everyone getting? My truck is doing a number on my bank account, being a poor college student and all. I have a 1997 GMC Sierra with a 5.0 liter motor, and I have added a K&N air filter, and a Flowmaster 40 Delta series muffler. I also have 285/75R16 tires. Currently, I get 11 to 12 miles per gallon with a mix of city and highway driving.
My 94 Silverado Ext Cab gets 12 or 13 with the 5.7 and all stock stuff. It's a fair mix of HW and city. With my 92 Reg cab standard shift with the 5.7 in it got almost 16.
See, thats why I'm thinking I need to give it a good tune up. Change the spark plugs and wires at least. Mine is a regular cab automatic. I wish it was a 350 with a 5 speed though
Loved that truck. Loud pipes, fire engine red, rims, tires, etc. My 94 is more family acceptable though. In a year or two, I'm told that I can get what I want. My wife's car will be paid off. I will be 03-06 2500HD or bust.
Once I scrape up enough money, I will be getting me a Dodge Cummins 6 speed. Nothin like getting 19 mpg while being able to tow whatever I want
I get around 14-15 hwy and about 9 mpg in the city. 2001 2500HD silverado 4x4 with the 6 liter vortec. I get about 11 mpg towing a 8' x 18' pontoon boat. Make sure you have the tires inflated up... find a semi to draft behind... roll through stop signs... that's my advice on saving gas. ha ha ha.. :D
on my commute i do about 14.5-15 during the summers, about 17.5 on the highway on trips... between december and about early april it drops about 1.5-2mpg with winter grade fuel and cooler temps... 05 f150 SuperCrew 4x4 5.4L 275/65r18 BFG All-Terrain KO tires...
Thats the reason I drive a camry everyday to commute 31MPG in the summer or better. But drive my 10 tundra around the area and hunting. Getting 16.5MPG out of the tundra in winter. Usually gets 17.5-19 in the hot summer on a trip.
My 04 3500 cummins diesel 4 door always runs from 19.5-21mpg ave. This is NO chit, no exaggeration, bone stock. 80k on it. My Honda civic Hybrid kills it at 45 mpg Our 04 Expedition.. SUCKS! 14 mpg
06 F250 Super Crew 4x4 with 33" AT tires, stock otherwise. Get 12 strictly city driving, 16 highway. With stock tires I'd get 19 highway (my room mate has my truck with stock tires lol). As soon as I pay off the remainder of my note on this truck, I plan to purchase a camry for daily driving. Diesel is 3.55 here, and if I start going to school 2-4 hours away next year for grad school, I won't be able to afford commuting home on weekends in my current tank. Dodge are much lighter trucks than Fords, hence the notorious gas mileage difference. If I wasn't so set on owning a Ford I'd have went with a Cummins for this reason alone.
17-18mpg mixed driving in the winter. About 18-19mpg mixed in the summer, 21-22mpg all highway in the summer. 2005 Tacoma AC 4x4 w 265/75/16 Terra Grapplers. I'm averaging just a bit above fullsize gas mileage, but I could use a little more size. Unfortunately, that won't happen for a LONG time.
I own a Tundra. So, I know better than to act like I'm worried about it. I have no idea what I get for mileage.
I have a '97 E250 with the 5.4L. Needs a tune up severely. But, can't really afford it right now and waiting for warmer weather before I tear into it. Currently, I get about 12mpg. Sucks because I had an '08 with same engine and was getting 17mpg on average. One thing I've found recently is that I must have lower gearing in the '97. I get far better fuel economy at 60 than I do at 70. So, I've been taking the back roads into work as it's lower speed, less congestion. Just adds about 10 minutes to the commute. But, I get almost 100 miles more out of the 30+ gallon tank doing it. Last time I filled up, it cost me $85 at a quarter tank @ $3.15/gallon. Can't wait for warmer weather as then I can bicycle in on nice days...
I have a '99 Chevy 1500 that averages 16 mpg, therefore I drive a '99 Infiniti I30 to work most days, it gets 25 mpg.
I get about 250 miles/tank in the Wrangler...and 450 miles/tank in the suburban...mileage sucks in both - but I didn't buy either for gas mileage
26-30 in our '04 Mazda6 13-18 in the '97 Sierra with the 5.7 Not sure yet in my '78 CJ7. The tires were grossly over-sized and the speedo is off, so I don't get a accurate mileage reading. It's bad now, but when all is said & done I should get similar mileage to the GMC, maybe even a touch better.
My Malibu gets 23mpg on average between city and highway. My Durango was lucky to get 14mpg, I don't miss it at all. When I need a truck, I borrow my moms Titan. I average about 14 in it, that sucks lol.
