How many of you guys put so much pressure on yourself to kill a nice deer or any deer at all and have the weather ruin it? Now I have been lucky to hunt as much as I have and to have a wife and kids that are understanding but this weather has ruined most of my good days to hunt! I love to bow hunt first but I always gun hunt as a tradition with my buddy and his kids. take the time off work( including Thursday to get one last bow hunt in before the guns go a blazing) and wouldn't you know that its supposed to be rainy and high winds! go figure! Oh well there is my rant for the day! Good luck to all the Illinois hunters this weekend and any bow hunters that are still trying to bag that elusive big buck!!
I put a lot of pressure in myself, really I could relax and enjoy it more. The guys at work are stocking up and I have 2. Nothing really to complain about, I'm happy with my 2 so far, but I want more. All in all, I will take a day in the stand than anything else. I love it out there, I want to move out there and be self sustained. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm generally not one to look forward to gun season, but after the year I've had so far, I'm ready to sit the bow down for a weekend.
I dont' let weather "ruin" my hunting. I've sat in a hurricaine and saw the 2 biggest deer of my life. (If only it was gun season...)
The only pressure I put on myself is to have fun. It blows me away how much pressure some guys put on themselves to kill a big deer. Just have fun! Remember...hunting is fun. And we cant control the weather. Just roll with it. The past two weekends the wind hasn't be right to hunt one of my favorite spots and I really want to hunt there for my son to shoot another deer with his bow. No worries, we make do with what wind we have. Its amazing how fun it is when you look at it through the eyes of a 11 year old kid.
Pressure on yourself will only ruin the experience and make it turn from fun into work. Sit back and relax and enjoy the quite calm of the outdoors, you may be surprised how much easier it is to discover the "finding" part of hunting.
Ya, I hear ya. I finally get to take a vacation day tomarrow and the morning low is going to be 0-5 degrees! But the rut is on and I'm going to try and sit for 5 hours at least.
Thanks for the insight! Everyone is right hunting is meant to be fun!! I'm getting a little payback from the pressure i think. Flu bug has got me but I'm gonna hunt and have fun anyway!!
For once I am the exact opposite. The snow is here, the cold weather is setting in, and I've seen bucks on their feet! I can't wait to hit the stand this weekend and all next week! If you couldn't tell I'm ecstatic.
