I went out this evening and shot about 100 arrows out of my recurve for the last time before I take It apart and try to repair It where It's splintering on the outside edge of my top limb. My shooting was dead on to begin with but I noticed a slight kick to all of my arrows the whole time I was shooting. Here's the deal though, I had 3 different set ups for arrows-

My old set up- 2216 arrow tipped with a 125 grain Screw on Snuffer weighing In at 561 grains total.
My new set up- 2216 arrow tipped with a 160 grain Glue on Snuffer plus a 43 grain adapter weighing In at 614 grains total.
My new set up with a field point- 2216 arrow tipped with a 200 grain Field Point weighing In at 611 grains total.

I noticed that the arrow tipped with the f/p kicked a slight more then the others, I thought that was odd. This was the 1st time I've shot my new set up with a 200 grain f/p on It. I'm pretty sure that my release sucked ass tonight but man It sure would be nice to know for sure!! A few weeks ago I shot the same set up besides my f/p's and my arrows flew perfect. It seemed that this evening they all were kicking to the left a tad. That's gotta be release related doesn't It? Man this bugs the hell out of me!!! :mad1:

My guess its you tweaking the string upon release or short drawing! Sometimes it takes a bit to get your form back if your not shooting daily!

I tell ya what Joe I was shot tonight from shooting, my arms wore out pretty quick. It's amazing how quick a persons muscles go In 2 months.

There's no reason why they can't shoot the same (arrow flight wise). Yes, all arrows are the same length.

I am not a "trad" guy but this may help. I was shooting today for the first time in about 3+ weeks and all I wanted to do today was get the feel back. I was aiming but just at the whole bag target. I wasn't trying to hit a spot, just the bag. I wanted the anchor, my arms, my grip, my back all to feel in sync. I held at anchor for varying amounts of time while I was "feeling" my shot. Aim was the least of my concerns, I just wanted to hit the bag so I didn't lose any arrows LOL. You know how you feel when you have a good shot? That was what I wanted.

I did this at different times during the day for about 20 shots a session and got about a 100 shots myself, spread out over the whole day. At the end of the day I took my time and aimed my last arrow. Everything felt good and it went where it was supposed too.

Don't press yourself when getting back in the groove. Relax and just hit the bag. Plenty of time for more exacting shots when you get your form back to feeling right.

A guy can have some leeway when It comes to choosing weights on arrow set ups. I didn't cross the line too far thus It hasn't done nothing with my set up. Another 20 grains might put me over and screw my flight all up, I'll find that out being I plan on putting another 60 grains up front yet when I get my 100 grain steel Inserts.

Yep, I have some leeway as well! I have 125gr tip with 50gr bass inserts! I can go up in weight but I notice my arrow drops pretty quick those last few feet when I'm in the 25/30 yards range! I can get away with 175 grain tips and 50g inserts with out any adverse flight! Now with 200gr tips and 50gr inserts, I'm in trouble!

If I knew something about carbon arrows I could answer your question honestly. Jeff, I don't know a damn thing on setting one up or what the numbers even mean, I'm serious!:d

I don't think you'll know if your on the verge or not until you actually shoot them out of your bow! A bow being cut to center, past center also add to the variable! Sure you can add a tom of tip weight to get em to fly but then your kinda limited to what type of heads you can shoot from them, not a lot of choices out there over 200 grains!

I was shocked how my arrow would drop out the last few feet with a lot of weight up front! The second I think its going right in the pocket it would fall out BIG TIME, of course this was longer distances i would never hunt at! That could just be my Bow and only pulling 50#. When I shot the 55# RER with the 789gr arrow there was no drop what so ever! Talk about shocking!

I think you would need to go with 375+ up there to get good flight, but you never know until you try it!
