Hope this is the right forum section. Love to hunt and have been for over 67 years. Cable and satellite TV are some of the best things to come down the pike since sliced bread and pocket tee shirts. However, to get the outdoor channels on our cable network, Spectrum, I have to upgrade to a more expensive package that includes channels I have never watched and don't intend to watch. Any advice is appreciated. I could just skip TV, start preseason scouting, practice with my bow, sight in my rifle and fish in between those times. An aside here- I have a friend who keeps his TV on one of the outdoor channels to keep his dog entertained. Yes, the dog actually watches it! Maye I should move in with my friend and keep the dog company.
You can watch Bowhunt or Die for free on here or YouTube. As well as The Hunting Public and many more!
I had same problem, and we ended up cancelling our cable package all together. We have Netflix and Prime. Meat Eater is on Netflix, and The Hunting Public is on Prime, along with a plethora of other solid hunting shows. We have a smart TV, and can stream Youtube on our TV as well. Most of the best hunting/outdoor shows post their stuff on Youtube anyway.
What they said. With Netflix, hulu, vudu, amazon, and youtube I feel the cable and sat companies are going the wrong way...they still keep raising their prices. I've had DTV for about 10 years now, but find that we watch way more of the others than we do DTV...and commercial free I might add. DTV just recently hiked their prices up yet again and it is the straw that broke the camel's back for us, we are canceling. The only thing I'll slightly miss is football season, and with all the BS and drama going on in the NFL these days I really couldn't care less anymore if I watch a game. When I'm craving hunting shows I find myself on youtube 99% of the time watching people like you and I that filmed their hunts. Much more enjoyable to me, even if the camera work isn't the greatest a lot of the time.
On Roku, besides BowHuntorDie, you can get Pursuit Up for free. Hundreds of shows on there from all the ones you see on the Outdoor Channel and Sportsman's Channel.
Carbon tv has some hunting shows. Some better then others. Netflix has meat eater. Prime has. Hunting public, solo hunter, fresh tracks with randy newberg, theres some others shows on there to. Then bowhunt or die. Then theres youtube.
No kidding? I watch Meat Eater on Netflix but didn't know Hunting Public was on Prime. I'll have to check that out. Thanks!
