So over Memorial weekend i drove 2.5 hours down to my honey hole to set up cameras and mineral licks. I decided to go back down today to pull cards and see if the licks took off (first try at setting one up). I drive all the way down there and get back on the logging roads and ill be danged if the timber company isn't back in there clear-cutting everything. They aren't on our property but they have all the roads blocked and crap strewn all over the place, which prevented me from even getting close to making it back there. So i ended up driving back home, empty handed. So disappointed. Just needed to vent. (wife doesn't understand my frustrations lol)
No. They don't understand. I would be frustrated too!! That's the one thing u wanted to do and they cut you off. My whitetail communications HQ
Yeah. That does suck Had a timber company spend the entire season cutting trees out of an old lease of mine 4hrs away. They trashed the place.
Sorry to hear that. In the same boat this year. I dont own any of the land in Va were I hunt and they have clear cut all around the small areas I do have. The cameras will be more than important this year as its going to be completely different patterns than before for a few years. The good news is that it could push more deer on to your tracts. That is a possible silver lining.
yeah i figure losing all this habitat will push the deer more on to our property. so now the problem becomes tracking new movements. got to get to my cameras to do that though think i might try and go back down this next weekend and see if i can go in the back way. glad others share in my frustration!
