When you frost seed, when do you put down the fertilizer?

I'll still fertilize personally the clover/chicory (if included) after about a 1/2 a month to a month of green growth and before a rain.

Funny you say that. Our weather has been unseasonably warm and that trend is forecasted to continue for the rest of the week. I didn't want to put the seed out until the weather cools back down. Historically speaking we should get a few more inches of snow.

If just clover and chicory you'd be fine most likely as soil temps shouldn't reach a germ temp quite yet unless this heat wave sticks around. I'm holding off too actually.

I was just thinking of this very topic this past weekend. I'm in NE Indiana and to say it has been a mild winter is an understatement (this past weekend we hit 65 degrees!). I have an established clover plot of about 1 acre, but it needs an over seed. I was going to frost seed this winter but I don't know if we will have frost again at this rate. It is supposed to get back in the 30's this weekend but I doubt it will freeze much. Can I still get away with a "frost" seeding when we may not actually get a frost back into the ground?

I've been working outside in t-shirts the last several days and ran the ac in my pickup several times.

I put some Whitetail institute imperial clover seed down today on the area that I raked and limed the other day.

    Now what?

What should I do next? When should I spray for weed control/fertilize etc?

Soil test? I wouldn't do much other than that till it comes up. One of the best investments I have made was grass control in and around the plot.

Yeah my spring plots were choked out last year and I have no plans on letting that happen again. Thats why I wanted to go this route. I'll be keeping an eye on them.

I did a soil test last year and made the neccessary corrections. I guess I could do it again.

I appreciate your advise and insight.
