I got my first deer (11 point buck) with a bow last year with a frontal shot. I was walking out from my blind and we walked up on each other 15 yards away to my left (I'm right handed). I put it just below the neck into the chest. He only ran 25 yards and dropped. From what I see on here I was lucky. Will think hard on it next time.
I have seen some of these questionable shots myself. Keep in mind camera angle and make the shot look worse than it was.
About 6 years ago, I saw a deer running thru the woods while hunting that was a victim of a poorly placed frontal shot. I couldn't get a shot at him myself. Although you see these elk being shot that way and it makes you think. I do feel if you were close and shoot a lot and are comfortable it could work.
