My friend shot a buck sometime in mid November, and we could not find it to save our lives. All he could recall from the deer was that it had "brow tines for days", but not much else. We looked all day the morning he shot it, but no luck. He looked for a couple more days after, but gave up hope on finding him. A couple days ago, him and my other friend were out shed hunting and stumbled across the buck laying in a creek bed in some really thick bedding area. He ended up scoring 187 5/8 gross score, and has a unicorn point is 13" long with 4 points coming off it. And this deer is right across the fence from where I hunt
looks good, he can always get a cape for it, at least the rack is in good shape. congrats to your friend on a great mature buck!
There are 3 bases on this rack. The one coming up from the middle is a whole separate antler. And he is getting a cape and mounting it, he dropped it off today I think
He feels its the one he shot, which I believe him. He hit it high, but the arrow never passed completely through the deer. We looked all day, but ended up giving up on it. He went back out the next morning and saw it way off, and it still had the arrow in it. He said he got a pretty good look at it that morning, and it was in the same general area that he found the rack at.
Thats an awesome deer, really glad he found it. I would say he has a little more than just brow tines!!! Those are very cool and unique though.
Great buck! Good luck to the taxidermist that has to get a cape to match up to the rack! Going to be some custom work there....LOL! Glad he found him!
Luckily, all of us are good buddies with the taxidermist lol. He already has all three of our bucks done from this year, and is doing a bunch of other stuff for us as well (pheasants, alligator, coyote furs, a bunch of european mounts). He said he had a cape he could make work laying around already
