Hey, been stalking the site for all summer and decided to register and use the forums. Stationed at Fort Bragg NC and haven't hunted in over 8 years because of never having time being military. Well that's about to change and I'm gearing up to get back out there so getting excited. Any advice to refresh my skills is greatly appreciated. Anyway, hello I guess!
If you already have a bow but haven't shot it in 8 years it might be time for a new bow. If you have a bow I would change the string without question and get the cams/limbs checked first thing. Once you get some new arrows cut and gear ready I would do quite a bit of practicing before heading out to the woods. Once you get back into it it's like riding a bike. Welcome to the site, thank you for your service, and good luck!
I have everything ready, I bought a used bow and took it to a shop to tune it and do safety checks on it. I just need a tree stand as I'm used to blinds and stalking. I guess I could break out the ghillie but I'm looking into just sitting now a days. Guess I haven't found a good one to fit the budget yet.
Good deal! You could always start out with a ladder stand which is definitely budget friendly and safe for someone who doesn't want to spend time putting up and moving hangon stands or shimmying up the tree with a climber. I love mine.
Yeah, I'm considering getting one from the local Wal-Mart or Gander mountain once my ammended tax return decides to show up.
