Dad shot an ol boar years ago that was massive. Especially for an old swamp pig. Hit it broadside with a 12G slug, dropped it in its tracks. The slug lodged in the off side plate. He went to cut its throat and broke his pocket knife in the hide. They are tough. A good cut on contact head is preferred. Your G5 Montec will get it done, especially with your setup. I've killed plenty of pigs broadside. I prefer the Steelforce Phathead. Micro head with bleeders, works great. Don't be afraid to take a broadside shot, just keep it low.
Just know if they don't go down quickly they can run forever. They are survivors, very tough beast. I have a lot of respect for hogs.
I've seen it. My wife shot one from about 35 yards with her .243. He dropped in his tracks and we started to celebrate only for him to get up and take off running for nearly 100 yards. That was on about 140lb hog.
I've tracked friends hogs for hours only to come up with a full arrow with no BH at the end of the blood trail. The arrow unscrewed from the broad head inside of the hog. Tough bastards. Respect
