I was fishing on the pond today and knocking the crap out of the bluegills. I intended to take them over to my 74 year old neighbor's pond and release them there for him. I had caught 20 bluies when I thought I had enough. I pulled the trap out of the water for the trip back to the dock and it was empty! The freaking spring that keeps the bottom trap door closed had broken. I got a stringer out of the tacklebox and went back to work. Didn't catch a single bluegill after that. All I ended up with were these.
That stinks but instead of releasing them in your neighbors pond you should come to the GTG and we can eat them at the Thursday night fish fry! Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Good idea Jim! Other than the fact I'll be in Vermont during the GTG, I can't find a single flaw with that thought! lmbo
Something in the back of my mind keeps telling me something about it being a poor fisherman who blames his equipment... or something like that. LOL P.S. Give the neighbor the crappie... eat the blue gills.
I was thinking you were actually catching the same fish over and over again all day! Drop him in the basket, catch him again, drop in basket catch again! Fish aren't very bright in Iowa are they? Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Ha! I've had that happen. Back in olden days when I caught fish with hook and line. My buddy shot a bighead that was swimming kinda funny. When he reeled it in, it had a stinger with six other fish attached to it. LOL, not even a stringer is fool-proof.
The wife likes crappie more than bluegill, so I keep the crappie. The neighbor's pond has crappie in it and that was all. Last year, I caught 5 bass out of my big pond and released in his pond to help keep the crappie under control. Now he wants bluegill in there. I'll do what I can to help him out as he lets me hunt his property.
Been there... or worse, I've pulled the basket up full of snakes. At least you had 5 nice Sacalait (Cajun word for crappie just to baffle people who can't agree on the pronunciation of Croppy or Crappy ) for dinner.
