Well, I finally got everything together and got the "Frankenbow" I'll call it a Trykera (Trykon XL w/ Katera string set and cam), and drew it back and thought "WTH???" Seems that I lost about 15# w/ the cam swap. Called Hoyt, and the Tech I talked to told me that was expected, and that the first Tech I talked to SHOULD have told me this. So now I have a nice target rig, that shoots FAST for 55#, but it ain't what I was expecting. Don't get me wrong, it's nice, SMOOOOOTH as silk, and shoots well, but I just don't want to hunt w/ a 55# bow. I'd guess it shot my 420gr arrows nearly as fast as my Trykon XL at 65# just guessing, and the 375gr arrows I set up for it while I was in the shop really ZIPPED out of it, not sure how fast, but I had 2 of them buried to the fletches in my Outdoor Range Bag target. So now I think I'll just go back to making it a "Trykon XL" as it was supposed to be this fall, but for a while, I'm gonna shoot it, might even try some indoor spots at one of the local ranges and see how it is for those. A little disappointed w/ the loss of draw-weight, but otherwise, it's a really nice. When I get a chance to download, I'll post up some pictures.
Before you give up on this project, you might want to try to come up with some limbs. I would call Hoyt and find out what deflection numbers you would need to achieve the draw weight you want. Once you have that info, you can probably come up with a set fairl easily on AT or somewhere. They might not be matching camo, but they would be effective. I personally don't care about matching camo, if the bow shoots, that's all that matters.
