The Bit Of Advice: When she says "Daddy", everything else becomes unimportant for the moment. Spend as much time with her as you can when she's young and she'll always be Daddy's Little Girl. Also, start practicing the line "You look like a fine young man, but if you do anything that I would not like or that makes my little girl to cry, I won't mind going back to prison."
Congrats Finch Your a lucky man. Advise: have many and raise them with unconditional love and understanding. It'll be hard but isn't anything worth wild? Coming from a person very blessed but a father of none:-/
Congrats on your daughter, Donnie! My advice is to love her mother with all you got Never go against mom in front of your daughter Take your daughter on Daddy / Daughter dates often Play tea party when she wants
Congrats yo! Like Germ already stated.. your little girl is going to steal your heart and there's nothing you can do about it. The best advice I was ever given was by my cousin.. and it's good wisdom for a father of a girl. It's important to give your girl all the confidence in the world and let her know that she can do anything another (even a boy) can do. To a little girl.. you are their hero in life.. and what you tell them is more important and means more to their personal confidence and development than what anyone else will ever tell them. So let them know.. take interest in what they like doing.. and let them take part in what you do. Here's my little girl last month.. at age 2 1/2 and totally okay with seeing a dead animal.. unlike her mother who can't even get within 20 feet of one at age 32. She was so excited just to be in the woods with dad. Make her a part of your life Finch.
Man Duke... that pic almost makes me want to have kids. I really have no idea, but it looks like an awesome feeling your experiencing right there. Great pic.
Fricking outstanding reply Mike!!! Spot on!! Great picture as well!!! Congratulation's Finch!!! Your going to be a great dad!! My opinion on having a boy or girl?- After seeing what It's like having a daughter I wouldn't want It any other way.
That is a really good piece of advice. Others offered some good advice as well. Girls require more patience. Boys seem to have a shorter memory. This is obviously inborn as it doesn't change as we get older. So keep that in mind. They are just mini women...and they will indeed steal your heart.
In all honesty, its a pretty cool experience. The greatest memories in my last 8 or so years have all involved my kids. The worst memories have not.
Like Duke said spend time with them, I am extremely lucky to drive hillary to and from school everyday. This alone time is great!!! last night we went to her school basketball game, she sat with the entire game, at age 11 and soon to be 12 I cherish those moments. I was lucky, age 0-5 I worked at Cabela's, I changed my schedule and worked the weekends and had two days off during the week of just me and her. We did everything together, I really miss those days. Like duke said giving little girs confidence is key, and the best advice I got was from my wife. When I take Hillary out I always step up my game on the gentleman side. Remember how you treat her is the way she will learn to be treated by her Boyfriend/husband in the future. I am always respectful, I always dress up, I make sure she knows she's the boss on our nights out. She sets the rules, she picks the resturant etc. Since we are showing pictures, she is three in this shot And then the look like this near 12 You think where did my little girl go, guess what she is still there, and you're still her hero
What about the best memories in the past 15 years to keep some perspective I've never looked forward to and dreaded the end of something so much in my entire life as college...
Congrats man!!! got to agree it is the greatest thing in the world. I never wanted a daughter, reason being I know I would be wrapped around her lil finger and couldn't do anything about it. As far as advice take in as much as you can with them and try to be flexible she will change your perspective on everything.
