I used a center gage to set up my new code red drop away rest. Then did my 1st paper tune. Rechecking with center gage after Tuning. Gage shows about 1/2 arrow about left. I'd that normal???

My first archery buck season coming in November and I'm worried about how broadheads will fly.

Right on the money at 20-30 yards. Seems to go progressively left out to 60 yards.

    Bow madness 32 60# 29.5 draw.
Beman bowhunter 340 125g field tip 30" length.
    About 456g total arrow weight.

The gauge is a starting point. Walk back tuning and broadhead tuning should be your next move. Lots of Youtube videos out there that explains how to do those. The gauge is great to get a start but it can't account for your form, how you hold the bow or if you torque it. The key to accuracy is consistency. If you do all those consistently then the arrows will land in the same spot or close to it.

Since I hunt, broadhead tuning is what I go by over all else. If you can't get your field points and broadheads to group well together the last corse of action is to just shoot broadheads. With todays equipment and a little research on the net you should be able to get them to tune.

Don't get overwhelmed by all of the ideas but try and find the common thread in all of the videos.
Walk back tuning and worrying a lot more about how my broadheads fly is where I spend my time.

I'll be hunting our family farm in southwestern Pa. out of ladder stands and ground blinds. Pretty thick so shots are rarely more than 30 yards. Rifle hunted there all my my life but my brother in-law let me shoot his Mathews when I was back at Christmas time. Needless to say I'm hooked. Came back to California and my PSE was delivered in Feb. Joined a local archery club last month. Having a blast! Can't wait until November 2nd. Cousins and bro in-law setting up my hunt.

Sounds like it just a rest tuning issue. I do walk back tuning & then fine tune the rest at 20yrds & 40yrds. Get the field point & broad head grouping together at 20, then move to 40 & make fine adjustments if necessary.

Thanks that's the plan. I did the 20 30 40 walk back tune yesterday. Shot my 30 40 50 60 pins in until I was tired. Definatly got ride of the wind age drift. I'll go back at it again this week. I'm looking at broadheads now leaning towards slick trick fixed. Awesome advise from all.

I'm having a similar thing going on with me, I figured out it was my grip on the bow, when I shoot longer distances I change my grip to try and get more control of my bow to steady it that is causing it to torch and send some arrows left. Check your grip because it can be something as little as that which can cause your shot to be off.

Ya I agree that it is hard for me to know if it is me or the setup. The shorter walk back tune I did proved that the majority of the problem was setup. I saw about an inch left at 3-10-15 yards. This coincided with the 6-8 left at 60 yards. I made corrections the next day I did a 20-30-40 walk back at the range. Now my 60 is pretty good. I still get a left once in a while and I'm sure that is my bow hand torque, by the way that left happens more often when I'm getting tired. I'm going to continue the process , practice, get stinger. Hopefully when buck season rolls around I will be dead on inside 40 yards with broadheads. Absolutely in agreement about the grip torque especially past 40 yards. Keep on pounding arrows!!

    Hi All,
Just an update on previous discussion. I shot in my broadheads this weekend. I am using Slick Trick standard 100 grain. The walk back tune that was advised earlier worked great as my broadheads are grouping with my field points out to 50 yards. No Tune needed!!
Again thanks for the input. I am really happy with my setup now. I am also confident my misses are me and not setup or tuning. I got my buck tags in the mail last week and will be sending application for doe tags in a couple of weeks. Just practicing until Nov 2nd.
