That was a good video. I have cut aspen and can tell you that the ones I cut this winter have 6-10 inch sprouts everywhere. I would have a pic but left phone home. The sprouts are several yards from actual stumps.
Yes the poplars will sucker out of the stumps they are clones of the tree that was cut, if you want to thicken up poplar to benefit grouse cut the female poplars to encourage the suckers to have a higher density of female trees. The buds of a female poplar have a higher protein content and are more palatable to grouse.
