It's a steel frame with alluminum alloy body panels. It will go off-road some, but I've got an ATV I use for most of that.
Christine may cringe and kick her dog over this suggestion, but an inexpensive level kit would alleviate your dislike of the front end sitting lower than your last truck.
A better idea for a truck with that big of a price tag is to invest in some adjustable front shocks, that will raise you about 2.5 inches and give you a better ride. You can get some bilstein 5100 adjustables for about $200. A level kit on a truck that would be a shame.
Glad you're seeing good mileage out of of it. A lot of guys on fuelly and the Ford forums were reporting pretty poor mileage out the 3.5. Curious to see how you do towing the boat. Again, awesome looking truck and jealous of those massaging seats. Sent from Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1
I went level kit until my front struts needed replaced then went with the 5100s. Level kit was $60 installed myself. New front struts were over $300 installed. Seemed pointless to replace struts that did not need replaced.
So I've got about 350 miles on it now. Overall I love the truck. It's not getting the gas mileage I expected, but I'd still take the truck even if I knew that ahead of time. My drive to work is all stop/go. It's about a 25 mile commute and I rarely get over 35mph. I'm averaging 16.5mpg right now based on that commute and I really don't romp on it very often at all. It will do well over 20mpg though if I keep it under 65mph on the highway. Took it in for a Linex install, front and rear WeatherTech mats, and tint on the front windows this week. I'll get a tonneau cover installed at some point soon as well. Other than that........while I'd love to modify the hell out of this thing I'm not going to. I got the 6 yr/120k bumper to bumper warranty on it, so I'm just going to leave it stock and enjoy driving it as is.
nice truck, want a new f150 SOOO bad, but can't get rid of the one I've got, 10yrs old, still pluggin away until I pass it on to my oldest son... heard a nasty rumor there would be a small v6 diesel for '17-'18 model year. will give it a bit to see if it actually materializes or not, that's what I'm waiting for....
this is 7mag. no BS, I'm back after a long hiatus, and after I embarrassed myself at the 1st GTG. I'm sure a few still remember that.
My dad has a 99 dodge 2500,chipped and a 3in lift.He gets 18.6 mpg pulling a 16ft trailer with two mowers on the interstate. It has around 275k on it.
