At least 0 of my 7 GM's have burned a quart of oil In my eyes they all have ups and downs somewhere down the road it all just comes down to personal preference
3 around 150,xxx, 1 over 200,xxx, all the rest over 75,xxx I know cant give a team mate to much crap about his oil burning ford though.........
You are a different story since your a old team mate. BTW my hats starting to get a little dirty, going to need a new one soon
Looking at a few trucks. There is a Platinum and a Lariat close by with the 6.5' bed that I like. I'd love to look in person at a King's Ranch as well if I could find one with the 6.5' bed and a 3.5 ecoboost.
Very nice. Would be curious to see how you do MPG wise. The 3.5s seem to be all boost or all eco:D My buddy has the new 2.7 and that's more MPG friendly but can't get it in a 6.5' bed SCREW.
Sure hope my Tacoma lasts another 8-10 years maintenance free, no intentions of upgrading anytime soon. Sucks the 5.0 is burning oil. My father, uncle, and cousin all 3 had that issue w 2 Chevys and a GMC ranging from 2009 to 2013 models. My uncle had his engine completely replaced under warranty after several trips to the dealership and then it started again. They all switched to Fords eventually, and now one is having the classic broken spark plug issue that I dealt with on my 04 (he bought an 06 this time). No vehicle company is impervious to lemons or bad designs here and there.
There is actually an F-250 locally with the the 6.7l PS in it that I'm eyeballing. Not convinced I need a diesel or 3/4 ton, but it's for a killer price and is outfitted really nicely. I've gotta travel this week for work but if it's still there this weekend I'm gonna go look at it.
I have a good friend with the 6.7 it's got 188K on the clock, it's a work truck. Still runs like day 1, and it's actually held up very well to the rigors of a work life.
I was briefly (hopefully) back in the truck market after my husband forcibly retired my 01 2500hd. Truck shopping was not fun at all. New trucks cost too much and have too many 'soft' extras. I want something strong, dependable and I can beat on without wincing. I ended up buying this used for 5,500.00. I had to put a new intake manifold gasket on it which apparently is a common vortec issue. (168k miles) Otherwise it seems good. Time and trails will tell. It has the 5.7l and going up a super steep grade, it works to roll those 35" tires. I haven't even bothered checking my mpgs. I still have the f250 with the triton v10. I sure wish that was a 4wd. It can't pull itself out of a shallow ditch but it sure does roll on the highway nice. I got 12.5 mpg from Chicago to utah with no load and from St Louis to utah, heavily loaded I got 11 mpg. Lol Most of the mountains I could go up without breaking 3000rpms. :D
Lol! Yep! But he tackled the greased pig like a champ. (if you missed it, we entered the greased pig contest for 'adults'. It was a bunch of young pups and a few old geezers (us) and by golly we caught it.) John also just bought a side by side, to which my neighbor commented that those were indeed popular with the old folks around here. :D
So I finally picked up a truck this weekend. Many of you already saw it on Facebook. It's a 15' Platinum with the 6.5' box and the 3.5l Ecoboost motor. So far I love it. The front end sits a bit lower than my old truck did, but other than that it's everything I wanted. I'm bringing it in for a Linex install tomorrow along with tint for the front windows. For those interested, I got the 3.55 rear end. It's only got about 150 miles on it so far but as of today I got 22.5mpg on the highway at 65mph with a pretty strong headwind. Overall I'm averaging 18.5mpg. It seems like it's getting stronger with the more miles I'm putting on it but it's absolutely got noticeably more grunt to it than my 5.0 did.
