So this will be my first year going to colorado running around the mountains chasing those buglers! I'm going with my dad and his friend who have years and years of knowledge of elk hunting! Im trying to get my list together for this 10 day back pack trip! I'm gonna go for a goal pack weight of 50 -65 is this possible and what gear would you recommend? Both my dad and his friend have purchased Kuiu gear but I've already invested a good chunk of change into my whitetail gear which I don't really want to go get all torn up in the rocky mountains. So I'll try to get a list posted up here soon of my plan on the gear I want to take! Any help is appreciated for this rookie! Sent from my arrow using Mathews!
I'd take the Sitka stuff. Should do fine in the elk mountains. It's quality gear I wouldn't worry about anything happening to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It'll be my first year with archery equipment as well. Ive been reading and studying since february planning this hunt and I have all my gear and my pack is 62# and my brothers pack is 64#. I more or less based my pack off of this list ( http://soleadventure.com/elk/my-elk-hunting-gear-list-for-extended-backpack-hunts/ ) I have the Horn Hunter full curl System and it is incredibly comfortable and awesome storage for a decent price to. Like I said its my first year as well so I am the farthest from a pro but its just a good starting point. Hopefully this helps. Good Luck!
