My fondest memories of the outdoors are of learning to trap 'coons, muskrats, mink, and fox when I was a kid. In the 1970's I was getting up to $55 for a big raccoon and $7 for muskrats. Good times.

Holy crap... $7 for a rat. The absolute very most my brother and I got was $4.50. Man, $7 and I'd have been rich. LOL I also would have had a Browning instead of a Mossberg for my first shotgun. LOL BUT... my second was a Browning. LOL

Greg...thanks for posting that video link. I learned a lot.

    Couple questions....

    1. Why the heck aren't those foxes fighting to get free once someone is holding them by the neck? They act as if they are paralyzed. The last guy wasn't even wearing gloves or long sleeves.

    2. Have you ever had an animal work itself free from a trap once you arrived at the set?

    3. Ones you have released...any ever try to attack?

Glad someone took the time to watch the video; it's VERY informative for those not familiar with trapping.

Foxes DO sort of get paralyzed when they're held that way... just something neat that most people don't know unless you're around trapping. :)

No, I've never had an animal work itself loose. Never had one try to attack either... they've all acted just like the releases you see in the video.

No fair! I've been bitten and scratched by raccoons and one left some pretty deep gouges in my leg.

My brother had one coyote take a trap and run with it for several days. They ended up blowing off a back leg and having a running gun fight with it that covered several hundred yards and a deer drive later. One tough coyote. Some wild critters are really REALLY tough. I watched the video a couple days ago. I've seen the animals also go a little wild and crazy. They all aren't so tame in the trap. In shock.... they're tamer.
