This from the man who post pictures in his undies and taking a dump.

Greg next time take picture of your kids sitting in front of your TV on their asses and eating junk. How dare you take them outside in nature:lol:

This isn't your forum or anyone elses. It's free and open to the public.........and not just for those who want to pat you on the back. If you are that upset by someone who doesn't agree with you then maybe you should take your own advice.

The same slope exists for blindly supporting those whose daily activities lump us all into their negative reputation because people falsely believe what we do is similar. I don't support gun rights for whack job nut cases out of fear I will lose mine.

2 inch scalpels doing 320 fps isn't what I would call prehistoric but given the choice between the two I would say lights out a few seconds after a surprise thump beats spending the night in a trap trying to chew your own leg off only to get choked in the morning after a family photo session.

You're so blinded by anything other then full support for trapping that you don't even realize no one called for trapping to be banned or outlawed. You and others are lashing out at boogey men who aren't even there.

Another straw man...........no one said anything about fair or banishing anything. The truth is always so much more fun.

It shouldn't be hard for you to understand how some people would view gathering children around a trapped animal for pictures before killing it as creepy to say the least. That is from a hunting forum as well, imagine the reaction from the general public.

You are deluding yourself if you think that animal is calm and not in fear for it's life. It's exhausted from struggling all night and now has humans who it's innately afraid of all around it. The fact you need to convince yourself otherwise is very telling. I've trapped live animals and relocated them and they were all terrified.

Honestly, I don't know why you are so bent to find out people (even hunters) aren't fond of trapping. Very few outdoorsmen do it and technology is it's enemy. I wouldn't worry much about people trying to banish trapping as I would guess it will all but fade into a memory as something the "old timers" used to do back in the day long before anyone cares enough to go after it.

You might want to ask the guys that own this site about that.

People disagree on these boards all day, every day. Guys get blasted over shot choices, tracking mistakes, their set ups, broadheads, bait, dogs, high fences.....etc

No one seems to care unless the attacks get personal or the language used is out of hand. This thread for some reason gets treated differently though.

We all know who runs the site.........I meant as a member I'm not real keen on being told where I should or shouldn't post on a public forum by another member when I am doing nothing other then disagreeing on a topic.

If anyone is so sensitive that different opinions crush their spirits when they see one it's hard to place the blame for that on the others.

I don't want to keep feeding the hijacked topic on this thread but I will say this .... Atlas ... you called more names in this thread than I think I have every seen .... you insinuated that trapping should be left in the past where it belongs ... I am for a good debate ... but you made it sound like every trapper is a knuckle dragging, idiot that doesn't respect the nature he plays in .... you did .... and we be buds ... I wish Dan didn't delete all the insults so I could quote them .... so lets get fishing! :D

    Well said Greg!

I've before many time and even in this very thread.

My earliest outdoor memories are running the traplines with my Dad. Not fishing or hunting. I wouldn't trade those for anything. Dying & waxing traps, packing up his basket, sifting dirt and all the other preparations that go into it.

You should get your facts straight Tony. I didn't call anyone a name in this thread.......ever. I did not direct even a single insult toward one member of this board.

Yes, I believe technology has passed trapping by and will be the reason it doesn't survive.

That's the problem with selective censoring.........people remember what they want to. I wish they were still here too so you could see how wrong you are. I am going to get my boat today all shrink wrapped and ready for storage.

    Bummer.

Just stopping by. This is one of the threads I truly look forward to each winter and it gets ruined by a few who just can't look past the thread and go on. I mean...I'm not an advocate for gay rights, so I don't walk into a gay bar when I run into one while walking down the street and express my feelings. Same thing here......just keep on walking if you don't like it.

How often do you just happen to run into a gay bar? Is this common? Sounds kind of suspect.

Once or twice a year. About as often as I run into this thread.

I'm surprised they even have known gay bars in tejas.

No I don't..............again the removal of text makes it hard for people to remember anything other then what they want to. The people I was describing are the ones who don't care about others and would endanger the life of my dog by carelessly scattering traps where they don't belong. Look at the feedback I got in this very thread..........."Oh well, it's your fault for having a dog"

From the experiences I've had with trappers my whole life I would say the ones who would do the above and not care were described by me spot on perfect. Does that mean that all trappers are that way??........of course not, and the only people who should have been insulted by that are the ones who regularly engage in such behavior..................and if someone does behave that way I honestly don't give a rip about the feelings of someone who would endanger my family with negligent actions.

Would you hold your tongue and not express a dislike for drunk drivers because there are other drivers in the room??

    That seems silly to me.

I know everyone is afraid the boogeyman is gonna come take their guns and fishing poles away if they dare admit life in the outdoors is anything less then 100% perfect but I happen to believe that does more harm then good............the catholic church learned that the hard way.

We shouldn't be scared to address the areas of our sport that could be improved.

I hope no one took my comments personally as that certainly was not my intention.

I am glad to hear you weren't talking about responsible trappers. .... since the original text isn't here, I'll take you at your word ... makes me wonder why I remember it like it was an all out attack on all trappers ... and I am not even one .... yet ;)

So about those spring salmon ....
